Translation

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: While we were with the Prophet, a man stood up and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, a black boy has been born to me.' The Messenger of Allah said: 'How did that happen?' He said: 'I do not know.' He said: 'Do you have camels?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'What color are they?' He said: 'Red.' He said: 'Are there any gray camels among them?' He said: 'There are some gray camels among them.' He said: 'Where do they come from?' He said: 'I do not know, O Allah's Messenger! Perhaps it is hereditary.' He said: 'Perhaps this is also hereditary.' Because of this, the Messenger of Allah decreed the following: 'It is not allowed for a man, to disown a child who was born on his bed, unless he claimed that he had seen an immoral act (Fahishah).'

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَيْوَةَ حِمْصِيٌّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَامَ رَجُلٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِنِّي وُلِدَ لِي غُلَامٌ أَسْوَدُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ فَأَنَّى كَانَ ذَلِكَ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَا أَدْرِي ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَهَلْ لَكَ مِنْ إِبِلٍ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ نَعَمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَمَا أَلْوَانُهَا ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حُمْرٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَهَلْ فِيهَا جَمَلٌ أَوْرَقُ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فِيهَا إِبِلٌ وُرْقٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَأَنَّى كَانَ ذَلِكَ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَا أَدْرِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ إِلَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ نَزَعَهُ عِرْقٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَهَذَا لَعَلَّهُ نَزَعَهُ عِرْقٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَمِنْ أَجْلِهِ قَضَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هَذَا لَا يَجُوزُ لِرَجُلٍ أَنْ يَنْتَفِيَ مِنْ وَلَدٍ وُلِدَ عَلَى فِرَاشِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِلَّا أَنْ يَزْعُمَ أَنَّهُ رَأَى فَاحِشَةً .

ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ ایک روز ہم لوگ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس بیٹھے ہوئے تھے کہ ایک شخص نے کھڑا ہو کر کہا: اللہ کے رسول! میرے یہاں ایک کالا بچہ پیدا ہوا ہے، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”کہاں سے آیا یہ اس کا کالا رنگ؟“، اس نے کہا: مجھے نہیں معلوم، آپ نے فرمایا: ”کیا تمہارے پاس اونٹ ہیں؟“، اس نے کہا: جی ہاں ہیں۔ آپ نے فرمایا: ”ان کے رنگ کیا ہیں؟“، اس نے کہا: سرخ ہیں، آپ نے فرمایا: ”کیا کوئی ان میں خاکی رنگ کا بھی ہے؟“، اس نے کہا: ان میں خاکی رنگ کے بھی اونٹ ہیں۔ آپ نے فرمایا: ”یہ خاکی رنگ کہاں سے آیا؟“، اس نے کہا: میں نہیں جانتا، اللہ کے رسول! ہو سکتا ہے کسی رگ نے اسے کشید کیا ہو ( یعنی یہ نسلی کشش کا نتیجہ ہو اور نسل میں کوئی کالے رنگ کا ہو ) ، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”اور یہ بھی ہو سکتا ہے کسی رگ کی کشش کے نتیجہ میں کالے رنگ کا پیدا ہوا ہو“۔ اسی وجہ سے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے یہ فیصلہ فرما دیا ہے کہ کسی شخص کے لیے یہ جائز نہیں ہے کہ وہ اپنی بیوی سے پیدا ہونے والے بچے کا انکار کر دے جب تک کہ وہ اس کا دعویٰ نہ کرے کہ اس نے اسے بدکاری کرتے ہوئے دیکھا ہے۔

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that he heard the Messenger of Allah say when the Verse of Mula'anah (Li'an) was revealed: Any woman who falsely attributes a man to people to whom he does not belong, has no share from Allah, and Allah will not admit her to His Paradise. Any man who denies his son while looking at him (knowing that he is indeed his son), Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, will cast him away, and disgrace him before the first and the last on the Day of Resurrection.

It was narrated that 'Aishah said: Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas and 'Abd bin Zam'ah disputed over a boy. Sa'd said: 'O Messenger of Allah! This is the son of my brother 'Utbah bin Abi Waqqas, who made me promise to look after him because he is his son. Look at whom he resembles.' 'Abd bin Zam'ah said: 'He is my brother who was born on my father's bed to his slave woman.' The Messenger of Allah looked to determine at whom he resembled, and saw that he resembled 'Utbah. He said: 'He is for you, O 'Abd! The child is the bed's and for the fornicator is the stone. Veil yourself from him, O Sawdah bint Zam'ah.' And he never saw Sawdah again.

It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin Az-Zubair said: Zam'ah had a slave woman with whom he used to have intercourse, but he suspected that someone else was also having intercourse with her. She gave birth to a child who resembled the one whom he suspected. Zam'ah died when she was pregnant, and Sawdah mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah said: 'The child is the bed's, but veil yourself from him, O Sawdah, for he is not a brother of yours.'
