Translation

Abdur-Rahman bin 'Abdullah bin Ka'b bin Malik narrated that his father said: I heard my father Ka'b bin Malik -who was one of the three whose repentance was accepted- say: 'The Messenger of Allah sent word to me and to my two companions saying: The Messenger of Allah commands you to keep away from your wives. I said to his envoy: Shall I divorce my wife, or what should I do? He said: No, just keep away from her, and do not approach her. I said to my wife: Go to your family and stay with them. So she went to them.'

أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَبَلَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ أَعْيَنَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ إِسْحَاق بْنِ رَاشِدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي كَعْبَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَهُوَ أَحَدُ الثَّلَاثَةِ الَّذِينَ تِيبَ عَلَيْهِمْ يُحَدِّثُ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَرْسَلَ إِلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِلَى صَاحِبَيَّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَنْ تَعْتَزِلُوا نِسَاءَكُمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْتُ لِلرَّسُولِ:‏‏‏‏ أُطَلِّقُ امْرَأَتِي أَمْ مَاذَا أَفْعَلُ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏بَلْ تَعْتَزِلُهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَا تَقْرَبْهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْتُ لِامْرَأَتِي:‏‏‏‏ الْحَقِي بِأَهْلِكِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَكُونِي فِيهِمْ فَلَحِقَتْ بِهِمْ .

عبدالرحمٰن بن عبداللہ بن کعب بن مالک کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے اپنے والد کعب بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ کو بیان کرتے ہوئے سنا ہے ( اور وہ ان تینوں میں سے ایک تھے جن کی توبہ قبول ہوئی ہے ۱؎، کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے میرے اور میرے دونوں ساتھیوں ۲؎ کے پاس ( ایک شخص کو ) بھیجا ( اس نے کہا ) کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم تمہیں حکم دیتے ہیں کہ تم اپنی بیویوں سے الگ رہو، میں نے قاصد سے کہا: میں اپنی بیوی کو طلاق دے دوں یا کیا کروں؟ اس نے کہا: نہیں، طلاق نہ دو بلکہ اس سے الگ تھلگ رہو، اس کے قریب نہ جاؤ۔ میں نے اپنی بیوی سے کہا: تم اپنے گھر والوں کے پاس چلی جاؤ اور انہیں کے ساتھ رہو، تو وہ ان کے پاس جا کر رہنے لگی۔

Abdur-Rahman bin 'Abdullah bin Ka'b bin Malik narrated that 'Abdullah bin Ka'b said: I heard Ka'b narrate the Hadith about when he stayed behind and did not join the Messenger of Allah on the expedition to Tabuk. He said: 'The envoy of the Messenger of Allah came to me and said: The Messenger of Allah commands you to keep away from your wife. I said: Shall I divorce her, or what should I do? He said: No, just keep away from her and do not approach her. And he sent similar instructions to my two companions. I said to my wife: Go to your family and stay with them until Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, decides concerning this matter. '

It was narrated from Ma'qil, from Az-Zuhri who said: Abdur-Rahman bin 'Abdullah bin Ka'b narrated that his paternal uncle 'Ubaidullah bin Ka'b said: 'I heard my father Ka'b say: The Messenger of Allah sent word to me and my two companions saying: The Messenger of Allah commands you to keep away from your wives. I said to the envoy: Should I divorce my wife, or what should I do? He said: No, just keep away from her and do not come near her. I said to my wife: Go to your family and stay with them until Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, decides (concerning me). So she went to them.'

It was narrated from 'Abdur-Rahman bin Ka'b bin Malik that his father said: The envoy of the Messenger of Allah came to me and said: 'Keep away from your wife.' I said: 'Should I divorce her?' He said: 'No, but do not approach her.' And he (the narrator) did not mention (the words): Go to your family.

It was narrated from 'Umar bin Mu'attib that Abu Hasan, the freed slave of Banu Nawfal, said: My wife and I were slaves, and I divorced her twice, then we were both set free. I asked Ibn 'Abbas and he said: 'If you take her back, you have two divorces left. This is how the Messenger of Allah ruled.'

It was narrated that Abu Al-Hasan, the freed slave of Banu Nawfal, said: Ibn 'Abbas was asked about a slave who divorced his wife twice, then they were set free; could he marry her? He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'From whom (did you hear that)?' He said: 'The Messenger of Allah issued a Fatwa to that effect.' (One of the narrators) 'Abdur-Razzaq said: Ibn Al-Mubarak said to Ma'mar: 'Which Al-Hasan is this? He has taken on a heavy burden.'

It was narrated that Kathir bin As-Sa'ib said: The sons of Quraizah told me that they were presented to the Messenger of Allah on the Day of Quraizah, and whoever (among them) had reached puberty, or had grown pubic hair, was killed, and whoever had not reached puberty and had not grown pubic hair was left (alive).
