It was narrated from Anas: The Messenger of Allah invaded Khaibar and we prayed Al-Ghadah (Fajr) there (early in the morning) when it was still dark. Then the Prophet rode and Abu Talha rode, and I was riding behind Abu Talha. The Prophet of Allah passed through the lane of Khaibar quickly, and my knee was touching the thigh of the Messenger of Allah, and I could see the whiteness of the thigh of the Prophet. When he entered the town he said: 'Allahu Akbar, Khaibar is destroyed! Whenever we approach a (hostile) nation to fight, evil will be the morning for those who have been warned.' He said this three times. The people came out for their work. (One of the narrators) 'Abdul-'Aziz said: They said: 'Muhammad (has come)!' 'Abdul-'Aziz said: Some of our companions said: 'With his army.' We conquered Khaibar and gathered the captives. Dihyah came and said: 'O Prophet of Allah, give me a slave girl from among the captives.' He said: 'Go and take a slave girl.' He took Safiyyah bint Huyayy. Then a man came to the Prophet and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, you gave Dihyah Safiyyah bint Huyayy, and she is the chief mistress of Quraizah and An-Nadir, and she is fit for no one but you.' He said: 'Call him to bring her.' When the Prophet saw her, he said: 'Take any other slave girl from among the captives.' He said: The Prophet of Allah set her free and married her. (One of the narrators) Thabit said to him: O Abu Hamzah, what dowry did he give her? He (Anas) said: Herself; he set her free and married her. He said: While on the road, Umm Sulaim fitted her out and presented her to him in the night, and the following morning he was a bridegroom. He said: 'Whoever has anything, let him bring it.' He spread out a leather cloth and men came with cottage cheese, dates, and ghee, and they made Hais, and that was the Walimah (wedding feast) of the Messenger of Allah.

أَخْبَرَنَا زِيَادُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ صُهَيْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَنَسٍ،‏‏‏‏ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَزَا خَيْبَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَصَلَّيْنَا عِنْدَهَا الْغَدَاةَ بِغَلَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَرَكِبَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرَكِبَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَنَا رَدِيفُ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَخَذَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي زُقَاقِ خَيْبَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِنَّ رُكْبَتِي لَتَمَسُّ فَخِذَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِنِّي لَأَرَى بَيَاضَ فَخِذِ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمَّا دَخَلَ الْقَرْيَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ خَرِبَتْ خَيْبَرُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِنَّا إِذَا نَزَلْنَا بِسَاحَةِ قَوْمٍ فَسَاءَ صَبَاحُ الْمُنْذَرِينَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَهَا ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَخَرَجَ الْقَوْمُ إِلَى أَعْمَالِهِمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ:‏‏‏‏ فَقَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ مُحَمَّدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِنَا وَالْخَمِيسُ وَأَصَبْنَاهَا عَنْوَةً، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَجَمَعَ السَّبْيَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَجَاءَ دِحْيَةُ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَعْطِنِي جَارِيَةً مِنَ السَّبْيِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ اذْهَبْ فَخُذْ جَارِيَةً، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَخَذَ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ حُيَيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَعْطَيْتَ دِحْيَةَ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ حُيَيٍّ سَيِّدَةَ قُرَيْظَةَ وَالنَّضِيرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مَا تَصْلُحُ إِلَّا لَكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ ادْعُوهُ بِهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَجَاءَ بِهَا فَلَمَّا نَظَرَ إِلَيْهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ خُذْ جَارِيَةً مِنَ السَّبْيِ غَيْرَهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَإِنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَعْتَقَهَا وَتَزَوَّجَهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ لَهُ ثَابِتٌ:‏‏‏‏ يَا أَبَا حَمْزَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مَا أَصْدَقَهَا ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ نَفْسَهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَعْتَقَهَا وَتَزَوَّجَهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ بِالطَّرِيقِ جَهَّزَتْهَا لَهُ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَهْدَتْهَا إِلَيْهِ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَصْبَحَ عَرُوسًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ كَانَ عِنْدَهُ شَيْءٌ فَلْيَجِئْ بِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَبَسَطَ نِطَعًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَجَعَلَ الرَّجُلُ يَجِيءُ بِالْأَقِطِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَجَعَلَ الرَّجُلُ يَجِيءُ بِالتَّمْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَجَعَلَ الرَّجُلُ يَجِيءُ بِالسَّمْنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَحَاسُوا حَيْسَةً، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَكَانَتْ وَلِيمَةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .

انس رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم خیبر فتح کرنے کے ارادے سے نکلے، ہم نے نماز فجر خیبر کے قریب اندھیرے ہی میں پڑھی پھر نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سوار ہوئے اور ابوطلحہ رضی اللہ عنہ بھی سوار ہوئے اور میں ابوطلحہ کی سواری پر ان کے پیچھے بیٹھا، جب نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم خیبر کے تنگ راستے سے گزرنے لگے تو میرا گھٹنا آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی ران سے چھونے اور ٹکرانے لگا، ( اور یہ واقعہ میری نظروں میں اس طرح تازہ ہے گویا کہ ) میں آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی ران کی سفیدی ( و چمک ) دیکھ رہا ہوں، جب آپ بستی میں داخل ہوئے تو تین بار کہا: «اللہ أكبر خربت خيبر إنا إذا نزلنا بساحة قوم فساء صباح المنذرين» ”اللہ بہت بڑا ہے، خیبر کی بربادی آئی، جب ہم کسی قوم کی آبادی ( و حدود ) میں داخل ہو جاتے ہیں تو اس پر ڈرائی گئی قوم کی بدبختی کی صبح نمودار ہو جاتی ہے ۱؎۔ انس رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں: ( جب ہم خیبر میں داخل ہوئے ) لوگ اپنے کاموں پر جانے کے لیے نکل رہے تھے۔ ( عبدالعزیز بن صہیب کہتے ہیں: ) لوگ کہنے لگے: محمد ( آ گئے ) ہیں ( اور بعض کی روایت میں «الخمیس» ۲؎ کا لفظ آیا ہے ) یعنی لشکر آ گیا ہے۔ ( بہرحال ) ہم نے خیبر طاقت کے زور پر فتح کر لیا، قیدی اکٹھا کئے گئے، دحیہ کلبی نے آ کر کہا: اللہ کے نبی! ایک قیدی لونڈی مجھے دے دیجئیے؟ آپ نے فرمایا: جاؤ ایک لونڈی لے لو، تو انہوں نے صفیہ بنت حیی رضی اللہ عنہا کو لے لیا۔ ( ان کے لے لینے کے بعد ) ایک شخص نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آیا اور عرض کیا: اللہ کے نبی! آپ نے دحیہ کو صفیہ بنت حیی کو دے دیا، وہ بنو قریظہ اور بنو نضیر گھرانے کی سیدہ ( شہزادی ) ہے، وہ تو صرف آپ کے لیے موزوں و مناسب ہے۔ آپ نے فرمایا: ”اسے ( دحیہ کو ) بلاؤ، اسے ( صفیہ کو ) لے کر آئیں“، جب وہ انہیں لے کر آئے اور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے انہیں ایک نظر دیکھا تو فرمایا: ”تم انہیں چھوڑ کر کوئی دوسری باندی لے لو“۔ انس رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں: نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے انہیں آزاد کر کے ان سے شادی کر لی، ثابت نے ان سے ( یعنی انس سے ) پوچھا: اے ابوحمزہ! آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے انہیں کتنا مہر دیا تھا؟ انہوں نے کہا: آپ نے انہیں آزاد کر دیا اور ان سے شادی کر لی ( یہی آزادی ان کا مہر تھا ) ۔ انس رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں: آپ راستے ہی میں تھے کہ ام سلیم رضی اللہ عنہا نے صفیہ کو آراستہ و پیراستہ کر کے رات میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس پہنچا دیا۔ آپ نے صبح ایک دولہے کی حیثیت سے کی اور فرمایا: ”جس کے پاس جو کچھ ( کھانے کی چیز ) ہو وہ لے آئے“، چمڑا ( دستر خوان ) بچھا یا گیا۔ کوئی پنیر لایا، کوئی کھجور اور کوئی گھی لایا اور لوگوں نے سب کو ملا کر ایک کر دیا ( اور سب نے مل کر کھایا ) یہی رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا ولیمہ تھا۔

It was narrated from Humaid that he heard Anas say: The Messenger of Allah stayed with Safiyyah bint Huyayy bin Akhtab on the way (back from) Khaibar for three days when he married her, then she was among those who were commanded to observe Hijab.

It was narrated that Anas said: The Prophet stayed between Khaibar and Al-Madinah for three days when he consummated his marriage to Safiyyah bint Huyayy, and I invited the Muslims to his Walimah, in which there was no bread or meat. He commanded that a leather cloth (be spread) and dates, cottage cheese and ghee were placed on it, and that was his Walimah. The Muslims said: '(Will she be) one of the Mothers of the Believers, or a female slave whom his right hand possesses?' They said: 'If he has a Hijab for her, then she will be one of the Mothers of the Believers and if she does not have a Hijab then she will be a female slave whom his right hand possesses.' When he rode on, he set aside a plate for her behind him and extended a Hijab between her and the people.

It was narrated that 'Amir bin Sa'd said: I entered upon Qurazah bin Ka'b and Abu Mas'ud Al-Ansari during a wedding and there were some young girls singing. I said: 'You are two of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah who were present at Badr, and this is being done in your presence!' They said: 'Sit down if you want and listen with us, or if you want you can go away. We were granted a concession allowing entertainment at weddings.'
