Translation

It was narrated from Anas that 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Awf came with a trace of saffron on him, and the Messenger of Allah said: What's this for? He said: I have married a woman. He said: What dowry did you give? He said: The weight of a Nawah (five Dirhams) of gold. He said: Give a Walimah (wedding feast) even if it is with one sheep.

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ نَافِعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَنَسٍ،‏‏‏‏ أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ جَاءَ وَعَلَيْهِ رَدْعٌ مِنْ زَعْفَرَانٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ مَهْيَمْ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ تَزَوَّجْتُ امْرَأَةً، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَمَا أَصْدَقْتَ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَزْنَ نَوَاةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَوْلِمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَوْ بِشَاةٍ .

انس رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ عبدالرحمٰن بن عوف رضی اللہ عنہ آئے اور ان پر زعفران کے رنگ کا اثر تھا تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کہا: ”یہ کیا ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا: میں نے ایک عورت سے شادی کی ہے ( یہ اسی کا اثر و نشان ہے ) ۔ آپ نے پوچھا؟ مہر کتنا دیا؟ کہا: کھجور کی گٹھلی کے وزن کے برابر سونا، آپ نے فرمایا: ولیمہ کرو اگرچہ ایک بکری ہی کیوں نہ ہو۔

It was narrated that Anas said: The Messenger of Allah saw a trace of yellow perfume on me -as if he meant 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Awf- and said: 'What's this for?' He said: 'I have married a woman from among the Ansar.' He said: 'Give a Walimah (wedding feast) even if it is with one sheep.'

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that 'Ali said: I got married to Fatimah, may Allah be pleased with her, and I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, let me consummate the marriage.' He said: 'Give her something.' I said: 'I do not have anything.' He said: 'Where is your Hutami armor?' I said: 'It is with me.' He said: 'Give it to her.'
