Translation

It was narrated that 'Aishah said: The Messenger of Allah used to fast until we said: 'He will not break his fast.' And he used not to fast until we said: 'He will not fast.' And I never saw the Messenger of Allah fast more in any month than in Shaban.

أَخْبَرَنَا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ دَاوُدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ،‏‏‏‏ وَذَكَرَ آخَرَ قَبْلَهُمَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ أَبَا النَّضْرِ حَدَّثَهُمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصُومُ حَتَّى نَقُولَ مَا يُفْطِرُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَيُفْطِرُ حَتَّى نَقُولَ مَا يَصُومُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي شَهْرٍ أَكْثَرَ صِيَامًا مِنْهُ فِي شَعْبَانَ .

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی الله عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم روزے سے رہتے تھے یہاں تک کہ ہم کہتے کہ آپ بغیر روزے کے نہیں رہیں گے، اور بغیر روزہ کے رہتے یہاں تک کہ ہم کہتے کہ آپ روزہ رکھیں گے ہی نہیں، اور میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو شعبان کے مہینے سے زیادہ کسی اور مہینے میں روزہ رکھتے نہیں دیکھا۔

It was narrated from Umm Salamah: That the Messenger of Allah would not fast any two consecutive months except Shaban and Ramadan.

Usamah bin Zaid said: I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I do not see you fasting any month as much as Shaban.' He said: 'That is a month to which people do not pay much attention, between Rajab and Ramadan. It is a month in which the deeds are taken up to the Lord of the worlds, and I like that my deeds be taken up when I am fasting. '
