It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah fasted from Al-Madinah until he came to Qudaid, then he broke his fast until he reached Makkah.

أَخْبَرَنَا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْثَرٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ عُتَيْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ صَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ حَتَّى أَتَى قُدَيْدًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ أَفْطَرَ حَتَّى أَتَى مَكَّةَ .

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مدینہ میں روزہ رکھا، ( اور چلے ) یہاں تک کہ آپ قدید آئے، پھر آپ نے روزہ توڑ دیا، اور مکہ پہنچنے تک بغیر روزہ کے رہے۔

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that: the Messenger of Allah fasted while traveling until he reached Qudaid, then he called for a cup of milk and drank and broke his fast; he and his Companions.

(One of the narrators) Shubah said: (That was) in Ramadan. Ibn 'Abbas used to say: 'Whoever wants to fast, may fast, and whoever wants to break may break his fast. '
