It was narrated that 'Alqamah said: I was with Ibn Masud when he was with uthman, and 'Uthman said: 'Whoever among you has the means, let him get married, for it is more effective in lowering the gaze and guarding one's chastity. And whoever cannot, then fasting will be a shield for him. (Sahih) Abu 'Abdur-Rahman (An-Nasai) said: This (narrator) is Abu Mashar, his name is Ziyad bin Kulaib, and he is trustworthy. He was a companion of Ibrahim. Mansur, Mughirah, and Shubah reported from him. (As for) Abu Mashar AL-Madini; his name is Najih and he is weak, and with his weakness, he also became confused, he narrated Munkar narrations, among them: Muhammad bin 'Amr from Abu Salamah, from Abu Hurairah, from the Prophet, who said: What is between the east and the west is the Qiblah. And among them: Hisham bin 'Urwah, from his father, from 'Aishah, from the Prophet: Do not cut meat with the knife, rather gnaw at it.

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ زُرَارَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْبَأَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي مَعْشَرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كُنْتُ مَعَ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ وَهُوَ عِنْدَ عُثْمَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ:‏‏‏‏ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى فِتْيَةٍ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ كَانَ مِنْكُمْ ذَا طَوْلٍ فَلْيَتَزَوَّجْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنَّهُ أَغَضُّ لِلْبَصَرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَحْصَنُ لِلْفَرْجِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمَنْ لَا فَالصَّوْمُ لَهُ وِجَاءٌ ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ:‏‏‏‏ أَبُو مَعْشَرٍ:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا اسْمُهُ زِيَادُ بْنُ كُلَيْبٍ وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ صَاحِبُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ رَوَى عَنْهُ مَنْصُورٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمُغِيرَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَشُعْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَبُو مَعْشَرٍ الْمَدَنِيُّ:‏‏‏‏ اسْمُهُ نَجِيحٌ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ وَمَعَ ضَعْفِهِ أَيْضًا كَانَ قَدِ اخْتَلَطَ عِنْدَهُ أَحَادِيثُ مَنَاكِيرُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مِنْهَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَا بَيْنَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ قِبْلَةٌ ،‏‏‏‏ وَمِنْهَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا تَقْطَعُوا اللَّحْمَ بِالسِّكِّينِ وَلَكِنِ انْهَسُوا نَهْسًا .

علقمہ کہتے ہیں میں ابن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ کے ساتھ تھا اور وہ عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس تھے تو ثمان رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم چند نوجوانوں کے پاس سے گزرے تو آپ نے فرمایا: ”تم میں سے جو شخص وسعت والا ہو وہ شادی کر لے۔ کیونکہ یہ چیز نگاہ کو نیچی اور شرمگاہ کو محفوظ رکھنے والی ہے، اور جو شخص ایسا نہ ہو تو روزہ اس کی شہوت کو کچل دینے کا ذریعہ ہے“۔ ابوعبدالرحمٰن ( نسائی ) کہتے ہیں: سند میں مذکور ابومعشر کا نام زیاد بن کلیب ہے، وہ ثقہ ہیں اور وہ ابراہیم ( نخعی ) کے تلامذہ میں سے ہیں، اور ان سے منصور، مغیرہ اور شعبہ نے روایت کی ہے۔ اور ( ایک دوسرے ) ابومعشر جو مدنی ہیں ان کا نام نجیح ( نجیح بن عبدالرحمٰن سندی ) ہے، وہ ضعیف ہیں، اور ضعف کے ساتھ اختلاط کا شکار ہو گئے تھے ان کے یہاں کچھ منکر احادیث بھی ہیں جن میں سے ایک وہ ہے جو انہوں نے محمد بن عمرو سے، انہوں نے ابوسلمہ سے، ابوسلمہ نے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے، اور ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے روایت کی ہے کہ آپ نے فرمایا: ”مشرق و مغرب کے درمیان جو ہے وہ قبلہ ہے“ ۱؎۔ نیز اسی میں سے ایک حدیث وہ ہے جو انہوں نے ہشام بن عروہ سے، ہشام نے اپنے والد عروہ سے، عروہ نے عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے، اور عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے روایت کی ہے کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”گوشت چھری سے نہ کاٹو بلکہ نوچ نوچ کر کھاؤ“ ۲؎۔

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said: Whoever fasts one day in the cause of Allah, the Mighty and sublime, Allah will remove his face away from the fire in return for the day (the distance of) seventy autumns.

It was narrated that Abu Saeed Al-Khudri said: The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever fasts one day in the cause of Allah, Allah will separate between his face and the fire by (a distance of) seventy autumns in return for that day. '
