Abu Hurairah said: I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'Allah, the mighty and sublime, said: Every deed of the son of Adam is for him, except fasting; it is for me and I shall reward for it. By the one in whose hand is the soul of Muhmmad, the smell coming from the mouth of the fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk. '

أَخْبَرَنَا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ:‏‏‏‏ كُلُّ عَمَلِ ابْنِ آدَمَ لَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِلَّا الصِّيَامَ هُوَ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَخُلْفَةُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ .

ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا: ”اللہ تعالیٰ فرماتا ہے: آدمی کا ہر عمل اسی کے لیے ہے، سوائے روزہ کے وہ میرے لیے ہے، اور میں خود ہی اس کا بدلہ دوں گا اور قسم ہے اس ذات کی جس کے ہاتھ میں محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی جان ہے، روزہ دار کے منہ کی بو اللہ کے نزدیک مشک کی بو سے بھی زیادہ پاکیزہ ہے“۔

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (ﷺ) said (that Allah said): For every good deed that the son of Adam does, he will have (the reward of) ten the like thereof, except for fasting. It is for Me and I shall reward for it.

Muhammad bin 'Abdullah bin Abi Yaqub said: Raja bin Haiwah narrated that Abu Umamah said: 'I came to the Messenger of Allah and said: Tel l me of something that I may take (learn) from you. He said: Take to fasting, for there is nothing like it. ' '
