It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that the Prophet said: Jibril, peace be upon him, came to me and said: 'The month is twenty-nine days. '

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ يَزِيدَ هُوَ أَبُو بُرَيْدٍ الْجَرْمِيُّ بَصْرِيٌّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ بَهْزٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي الْحَكَمِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَتَانِي جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ الشَّهْرُ تِسْعٌ وَعِشْرُونَ يَوْمًا .

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی الله عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”میرے پاس جبرائیل علیہ السلام آئے اور انہوں نے کہا: مہینہ انتیس دن کا بھی ہوتا ہے“۔
