It was narrated from 'Ubaidullah bin 'Abdulah bin 'Utabah that 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas used to say: The Messenger of Allah was the most generous of people, and he was most generous in Ramadan when Jibril me him. Jibril use to meet him every night during the month of Ramadan and study Quran with him. And he said: 'When Jibril met him, the Messenger of Allah was more generous in doing good than the blowing wind'

أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ،‏‏‏‏ كَانَ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَجْوَدَ النَّاسِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَانَ أَجْوَدَ مَا يَكُونُ فِي رَمَضَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حِينَ يَلْقَاهُ جِبْرِيلُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَانَ جِبْرِيلُ يَلْقَاهُ فِي كُلِّ لَيْلَةٍ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَيُدَارِسُهُ الْقُرْآنَ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ يَلْقَاهُ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَجْوَدَ بِالْخَيْرِ مِنَ الرِّيحِ الْمُرْسَلَةِ .

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی الله عنہما کہتے تھے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم لوگوں میں سب سے زیادہ سخی آدمی تھے، اور رمضان میں جس وقت جبرائیل علیہ السلام آپ سے ملتے تھے آپ اور زیادہ سخی ہو جاتے تھے، جبرائیل علیہ السلام آپ سے ماہ رمضان میں ہر رات ملاقات کرتے ( اور ) قرآن کا دور کراتے تھے۔ ( راوی ) کہتے ہیں: جس وقت جبرائیل علیہ السلام رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے ملاقات کرتے تو آپ تیز چلتی ہوئی ہوا سے بھی زیادہ سخی ہو جاتے تھے۔
