Translation

It was narrated that Abu Ma'mar said: We were with 'Ali and a funeral passed by him, and they stood up for it. 'Ali said: What is this?' They said: 'The command of Abu Musa.' He said: 'Rather the Messenger of Allah stood up for a Jewish funeral but he did not do it again. '

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي مَعْمَرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ كُنَّا عِنْدَ عَلِيٍّ فَمَرَّتْ بِهِ جَنَازَةٌ فَقَامُوا لَهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ:‏‏‏‏ مَا هَذَا ؟ قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ أَمْرُ أَبِي مُوسَى،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّمَا قَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِجَنَازَةِ يَهُودِيَّةٍ وَلَمْ يَعُدْ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ .

ابومعمر کہتے ہیں کہ ہم علی رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس تھے ( اتنے میں ) ایک جنازہ گزرا تو لوگ کھڑے ہو گئے، تو علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: یہ کیا ہے؟ لوگوں نے کہا: ابوموسیٰ اشعری کا حکم ہے، تو انہوں نے کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ایک یہودی عورت کے جنازے کے لیے کھڑے ہوئے تھے، ( پھر ) اس کے بعد آپ کبھی کھڑے نہیں ہوئے۔

It was narrated from Muhammad that: a funeral passed by Al-Hasan bin 'Ali and Ibn 'Abbas. Al-Hasan stood up but Ibn 'Abbas did not/ Al-Hasan said: 'Didn't the Messenger of Allah stand up for the funeral of a Jew?' Ibn 'Abbas said: 'Yes, then he sat down. '

It was narrated that Ibn Sirin said: A funeral passed by Al-Hasan bin 'Ali and Ibn 'Abbas. Al-Hasan stood up but Ibn 'Abbas did not. Al-Hasan said to Ibn 'Abbas: 'Didn't the Messengr of Allah stand up for it?' Ibn 'Abbas said: 'He stood up for it then he sat. '

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas and Al-Hasan bin 'Ali that: a funeral passed by them and one of them stood and the other sat. The one who stood up said: By Allah, I know that the Messnger of Allah stood up. The one who was sitting said: I know that the Messenger of Allah sat.

It was narrated from Ja'far bin Muhammad from his father that: Al-Hasan bin 'Ali was sitting when a funeral passed by. The People stood until the funeral had passed, and Al-Hasan said: The funeral of Jew passed by when the Messenger of Allah was sitting in its path, and he did not want the funeral of a Jew to pass over his head, so he stood up.
