It was narrated that Abu 'Uthman said: Usamah bin Zaid told me: 'The daughter of the Prophet sent word to him telling him: A son of mine is dying, come to us. He sent word to her, conveying his greeting of salam and saying: To Allah belongs that which He takes and that which He gives, and everything has an appointed time with Allah. Let her be patient and seek reward. She sent word to him adjuring him to go to her. So he got up and went, accompanied by Sa'd bin 'Ubadah, Muadh bin Jabal, Ubayy bin Kab Zaid bin Thabit and some other men. The boy was lifted up to the Messenger of Allah, with the death rattle sounding in him, and his eyes filled with tears. Sa'd said: O Messenger of Allah, what is this? he said: This is compassion which Allah has created in the hearts of His slaves. Allah has mercy on His compassionate slaves.

أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنِي أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَرْسَلَتْ بِنْتُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَيْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ ابْنًا لِي قُبِضَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأْتِنَا فَأَرْسَلَ يَقْرَأُ السَّلَامَ،‏‏‏‏ وَيَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَا أَخَذَ وَلَهُ مَا أَعْطَى وَكُلُّ شَيْءٍ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ بِأَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى فَلْتَصْبِرْ وَلْتَحْتَسِبْ ،‏‏‏‏ فَأَرْسَلَتْ إِلَيْهِ تُقْسِمُ عَلَيْهِ لَيَأْتِيَنَّهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَامَ وَمَعَهُ سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ وَمُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ وَأُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ وَزَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ وَرِجَالٌ فَرُفِعَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الصَّبِيُّ وَنَفْسُهُ تَقَعْقَعُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَفَاضَتْ عَيْنَاهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ سَعْدٌ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ،‏‏‏‏ مَا هَذَا ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا رَحْمَةٌ يَجْعَلُهَا اللَّهُ فِي قُلُوبِ عِبَادِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِنَّمَا يَرْحَمُ اللَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ الرُّحَمَاءَ .

اسامہ بن زید رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی بیٹی نے آپ کو صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کہلا بھیجا کہ میرا بیٹا ۱؎ مرنے کو ہے آپ آ جائیں، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کہلا بھیجا کہ آپ سلام کہتے ہیں، اور کہتے ہیں: اللہ تعالیٰ ہی کے لیے ہے جو ( کچھ ) لے، اور اسی کے لیے ہے جو ( کچھ ) دے، اور اللہ کے نزدیک ہر چیز کا ایک وقت مقرر ہے، تو چاہیئے کہ تم صبر کرو، اور اللہ سے اجر طلب کرو، بیٹی نے ( دوبارہ ) قسم دے کے کہلا بھیجا کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ضرور آ جائیں، چنانچہ آپ اٹھے، آپ کے ساتھ سعد بن عبادہ، معاذ بن جبل، ابی بن کعب، زید بن ثابت رضی اللہ عنہم اور کچھ اور لوگ تھے، ( بچہ ) رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس اٹھا کر اس حال میں لایا گیا کہ اس کی سانس ٹوٹ رہی تھی، تو آپ کی آنکھوں ( سے ) آنسو بہ پڑے، اس پر سعد رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! یہ کیا ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: یہ رحمت ہے جو اللہ تعالیٰ نے اپنے بندوں کے دلوں میں رکھ رکھا ہے، اور اللہ تعالیٰ اپنے انہیں بندوں پر رحم کرتا ہے جو رحم دل ہوتے ہیں ۔

Abu lyas Mu'awiyah bin 'Qurrah narrated from his father that: a man came to the Prophet accompanied by a son of his. He said to him: Do you love him? He said: May Allah love you as I love him. Then he (the son) died and he noticed his absence and asked about him. He said: Will it not make you happy to know that you will not come to any of the gates of Paradise but you will find him there, trying to open it for you?

In his letter he mentioned that he had heard his father narrate, that his grandfather, 'Abdullah bin 'Amr bin Al-As said: The Messenger of Allah said: 'Allah does not approve for His believing slave, if He takes away his loved one from among the people of the Earth, and he bears that with patience and seeks reward, and says that which he is commanded any reward less than Paradise. '

It was narrated from Anas that the Messenger of Allah said: Whoever seeks reward for (the loss of) three of his own children, he will enter Paradise. A woman stood up and said: Or two? He said: Or two. The woman said: I wish that I had said, 'or one. '

It was narrated that Sa'sa'ah bin Mu'awiyah said: I met Abu Dharr and said: 'Tell me a Hadith.' He said: the Messenger of Allah said: There are no two Muslims, three of whose children die before reaching puberty, but Allah will forgive them by virtue of His mercy towards them. '
