It was narrated that 'Abdullah said: The Messenger of Allah said: 'He is not one of us who strikes his cheeks, rends his garment, calls out the calls of the Jahiliyyah. '

أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ خَشْرَمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ. ح أَنْبَأَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لَيْسَ مِنَّا مَنْ ضَرَبَ الْخُدُودَ،‏‏‏‏ وَشَقَّ الْجُيُوبَ،‏‏‏‏ وَدَعَا بِدُعَاءِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ وَاللَّفْظُ لِعَلِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ الْحَسَنُ بِدَعْوَى.

عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: وہ شخص ہم میں سے نہیں ۱؎ جو منہ پیٹے، گریباں پھاڑے، اور جاہلیت کی پکار پکارے ( یعنی نوحہ کرے ) ۔ یہ الفاظ علی بن خشرم کے ہیں، اور حسن کی روایت «بدعا الجاہلیۃ» کی جگہ «بدعویٰ الجاہلیۃ» ہے۔

It was narrated that Safwan bin Muhriz said: Abu Musa fell unconscious and they wept for him. He said: 'I say to you the words of disavowal that the messenger of Allah said: He is not one of us who shaves his head (as a sign of mourning), rends his garments, or raises his voice in Lamentation. '
