Translation

Arabic, english and urdu

It was narrated from Ubayy bin Ka'b that: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to pray witr with three rak'ahs. In the first he would recite: Glorify the Name of Your Lord, the Most High in the second: Say: O you disbelievers! , and in the third: Say: He is Allah, (the) One . And he would say the Qunut before bowing, and when he finished he would say: Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus (Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy) three times, elongating the words the last time.

أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مَيْمُونٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا مَخْلَدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ زُبَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبْزَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُوتِرُ بِثَلَاثِ رَكَعَاتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْأُولَى بِ سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى وَفِي الثَّانِيَةِ بِ قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ وَفِي الثَّالِثَةِ بِ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ وَيَقْنُتُ قَبْلَ الرُّكُوعِ،‏‏‏‏ فَإِذَا فَرَغَ قَالَ عِنْدَ فَرَاغِهِ:‏‏‏‏ سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ يُطِيلُ فِي آخِرِهِنَّ .

ابی بن کعب رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم وتر تین رکعت پڑھتے تھے، پہلی رکعت میں «سبح اسم ربك الأعلى‏» دوسری رکعت میں«قل يا أيها الكافرون» اور تیسری میں «قل هو اللہ أحد» پڑھتے، اور دعائے قنوت رکوع سے پہلے پڑھتے، پھر جب ( وتر سے ) فارغ ہو جاتے تو فراغت کے وقت تین بار: «سبحان الملك القدوس» کہتے، اور ان کے آخر میں کھینچتے۔

Zakariyya bin Abi Za'idah narrated from Abu Ishaq, from Sa'id bin Jubair, that Ibn Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to pray witr with three rak'ahs. Zuhair narrated from Abu Ishaq, from Sa'eed bin Jubair, : Ibn Abbas used to pray witr with three: (Reciting): Glorify the Name of Your Lord, the Most High; Say: O You disbelievers! and: Say: He is Allah, (the) One.'

Sufyan narrated from Habib bin Abi Thabit, from Muhammad bin Ali, from his father, from his grandfather, that: The Prophet (ﷺ) got up at night and cleaned his teeth, then he prayed two rak'ahs, then he slept. Then he got up and cleaned his teeth, then he performed wudu and prayed two rak'ahs, until he had prayed six. Then he prayed witr with three rak'ahs, and prayed two rak'ahs.

Husain narrated from Habib bin Abi Thabit, from Muhammad bin 'Ali bin 'Abdullah bin Abbas, from his father, that his grandfather said: I was with the Prophet (ﷺ) and he got up and performed wudu, cleaned his teeth while reciting this verse until he finished: 'Verily, in the creation of the heavens and the Earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding.' Then he prayed two rak'ahs, then he went back and slept until I heard him breathing deeply. Then he got up and performed wudu and cleaned his teeth. Then he prayed two rak'ahs, then he slept, then he got up and performed wudu and cleaned his teeth and prayed two rak'ahs and prayed witr with three rak'ahs.
