Wabarah bin Abdur-Rahman said: Ibn 'Umar did not offer more than two rak'ahs when traveling, and he did not offer any prayer before or after that. It was said to him: 'What is this?' He said: 'This is what I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) doing.'
أَخْبَرَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا وَبَرَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ لَا يَزِيدُ فِي السَّفَرِ عَلَى رَكْعَتَيْنِ لَا يُصَلِّي قَبْلَهَا وَلَا بَعْدَهَا،‏‏‏‏ فَقِيلَ لَهُ:‏‏‏‏ مَا هَذَا ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصْنَعُ .
وبرہ بن عبدالرحمٰن کہتے ہیں کہ   ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہم سفر میں دو رکعت پر اضافہ نہیں کرتے تھے، نہ تو اس سے پہلے نماز پڑھتے اور نہ ہی اس کے بعد، تو ان سے کہا گیا: یہ کیا ہے؟ تو انہوں نے کہا: میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو اسی طرح کرتے دیکھا ہے۔

Eisa bin Hafs bin 'Asim said: My father told me: 'I was with Ibn Umar on a journey, and he prayed Zuhr and 'Asr with two rak'ahs each, then he went and sat on his carpet. He saw some people offering voluntary prayers and said: What are these people doing? I said: They are offering voluntary prayers. He said: If I had wanted to pray before and after (the obligatory prayer) I would have offered it in full. I accompanied the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and he did not pray more than two rak'ahs when traveling, and Abu Bakr (did likewise) until he died, as did 'Umar and 'Uthman, may Allah (SWT) be pleased with them all.

It was narrated that Abu Bakrah said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'The sun and moon are two signs of Allah (SWT), the Most High, and they do not become eclipsed for death or birth of anyone, rather Allah (SWT), the Mighty and Sublime, strikes fear into His slaves through them.'

Abdur-Rahman bin Samurah said: While I was (practicing) shooting some arrows in Al-Madinah, the sun became eclipsed. I gathered up my arrows and said: 'I want to see what the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) will say about the eclipse of the sun.' So I came to him from behind when he was in the masjid, and he started to say the tasbih and takbir and to supplicate until the eclipse was over. Then he stood up and prayed two rak'ahs with four prostrations.
