Abdullah bin al-Zubair said: When the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم sat during the prayer ( at the tashahhud), he placed his left foot under his right thigh and shin and spread his right foot and placed his left hand on his left knee and placed his right hand on his right thigh, and he pointed with his forefinger.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ الْبَزَّازُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَاعَامِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا قَعَدَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ جَعَلَ قَدَمَهُ الْيُسْرَى تَحْتَ فَخْذِهِ الْيُمْنَى وَسَاقِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَفَرَشَ قَدَمَهُ الْيُمْنَى وَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُسْرَى عَلَى رُكْبَتِهِ الْيُسْرَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى فَخْذِهِ الْيُمْنَى وَأَشَارَ بِأُصْبُعِهِ . وَأَرَانَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ وَأَشَارَ بِالسَّبَّابَةِ.

عبداللہ بن زبیر رضی اللہ عنہما روایت کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جب نماز میں بیٹھتے تو اپنا بایاں پاؤں داہنی ران اور پنڈلی کے نیچے کرتے اور داہنا پاؤں بچھا دیتے اور بایاں ہاتھ اپنے بائیں گھٹنے پر رکھتے اور اپنا داہنا ہاتھ اپنی داہنی ران پر رکھتے اور اپنی انگلی سے اشارہ کرتے، عبدالواحد نے ہمیں شہادت کی انگلی سے اشارہ کر کے دکھایا۔

Narrated Abdullah ibn az-Zubayr: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم used to point with his finger (at the end of the tashahhud) and he would not move it. Ibn Juraij said: And Amr bin Dinar added: 'He (Ziyad) said: Amir informed me from his father that he saw the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم supplicating like that. And the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم would brace himself with his left hand on his left knee.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم prohibited, according to the version of Ahmad ibn Hanbal, that a person should sit during prayer while he is leaning on his hand. According to the version of Ibn Shibwayh, he prohibited that a man should lean on his hand during prayer. According to the version of Ibn Rafi, he prohibited that a man should pray while he is leaning on his hand, and he mentioned this tradition in the chapter on Raising the head after prostration. According to the version of Ibn AbdulMalik, he prohibited that a man should lean on his hand when he stands up after prostration.
