This tradition has also been transmitted by Rifaah b Rafi through a different chain of narrators. This version has: When you get up to pray, say the takbir, exalting Allah; then recite the Quran as much as it is convenient for you. The version adds: When you sit in the middle of the prayer, do it completely (so that you are at rest) and spread your left thigh; then recite the tashahhud. Then if you get up (again), do in a similar way until you finish your prayer.

حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ خَلَّادِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَمِّهِ رِفَاعَةَ بْنِ رَافِعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏بِهَذِهِ الْقِصَّةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا أَنْتَ قُمْتَ فِي صَلَاتِكَ فَكَبِّرِ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى ثُمَّ اقْرَأْ مَا تَيَسَّرَ عَلَيْكَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ فِيهِ:‏‏‏‏ فَإِذَا جَلَسْتَ فِي وَسَطِ الصَّلَاةِ فَاطْمَئِنَّ وَافْتَرِشْ فَخِذَكَ الْيُسْرَى ثُمَّ تَشَهَّدْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ إِذَا قُمْتَ فَمِثْلَ ذَلِكَ حَتَّى تَفْرُغَ مِنْ صَلَاتِكَ .

اس سند سے بھی رفاعہ بن رافع رضی اللہ عنہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے یہی قصہ روایت کرتے ہیں، اس میں ہے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جب تم نماز کے لیے کھڑے ہو تو ( پہلے ) «الله اكبر» کہو، پھر قرآن مجید میں سے جو تمہارے لیے آسان ہو پڑھو ، اور اس میں ہے: جب تم نماز کے بیچ میں بیٹھو تو اطمینان و سکون سے بیٹھو اور اپنی بائیں ران کو بچھا لو، پھر تشہد پڑھو، پھر جب کھڑے ہو تو ایسا ہی کرو یہاں تک کہ تم اپنی نماز سے فارغ ہو جاؤ ۔

Rifaah bin Rafi has also narrated this tradition through a different chain from the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. This version goes: Then perform ablution in a way Allah, the exalted, has command you, then say the shahadah and get up and say the takbir. Then if you know any of the Quran, recite it; otherwise say: “Praise be to Allah”; “Allah is most great”; “ There is no god but Allah” He ( the narrator) also said in this version: If some defect remains in this, that detect will remain in your prayer.

Narrated Abdur Rahman ibn Shibl: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم prohibited to peck like a crow, and to spread (the forearms) like a wild beast, and to fix a place in the mosque like a camel which fixes its place. These are the wordings of Qutaybah.

Narrated Uqbah ibn Amr al-Ansari: Salim al-Barrad said: We came to Abu Masud Uqbah ibn Amr al-Ansari and said to him: Tell us about the prayer of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. He stood up before us in the mosque and said the takbir. When he bowed, he placed his hands upon his knees and put his fingers below, and kept his elbows (arms) away from his sides, so everything returned properly to its place. Then he said: Allah listens to him who praises Him ; then he stood up so that everything returned properly to its place; then he said the takbir and prostrated and put the palms of his hands on the ground; he kept his elbow (arms) away from his sides, so that everything returned to its proper place. Then he raised his head and sat so that everything returned to its place; he then repeated it in a similar way. Then he offered four rak'ahs of prayer like this rak'ah and completed his prayer. Then he said: Thus we witnessed the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم offering his prayer.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: Anas ibn Hakim ad-Dabbi said that he feared Ziyad or Ibn Ziyad; so he came to Madina and met Abu Hurairah. He attributed his lineage to me and I became a member of his lineage. Abu Hurairah said (to me): O youth, should I not narrate a tradition to you? I said: Why not, may Allah have mercy on you? (Yunus (a narrator) said: I think he narrated it (the tradition) from the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم: ) The first thing about which the people will be called to account out of their actions on the Day of Judgment is prayer. Our Lord, the Exalted, will say to the angels - though He knows better: Look into the prayer of My servant and see whether he has offered it perfectly or imperfectly. If it is perfect, that will be recorded perfect. If it is defective, He will say: See there are some optional prayers offered by My servant. If there are optional prayer to his credit, He will say: Compensate the obligatory prayer by the optional prayer for My servant. Then all the actions will be considered similarly.

Narrated Tamim ad-Dari: Tamim reported this tradition from the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as (Hadith No 863). This version adds: Then zakat will be considered in a similar way. Then all the actions will be considered accordingly.
