Narrated Abu Bakrah: Abdur Rahman ibn Abu Bakrah said that he told his father: O my father! I hear you supplicating every morning: O Allah! Grant me health in my body. O Allah! Grant me good hearing. O Allah! Grant me good eyesight. There is no god but Thou. You repeat them three times in the morning and three times in the evening. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم using these words as a supplication and I like to follow his practice. The transmitter, Abbas, said in this version: And you say: O Allah! I seek refuge in Thee from infidelity and poverty. O Allah! I seek refuge in Thee from punishment in the grave. There is no god but Thee . You repeat them three times in the morning and three times in the evening, and use them as a supplication. I like to follow his practice. He said: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: The supplications to be used by one who is distressed are: O Allah! Thy mercy is what I hope for. Do not abandon me to myself for an instant, but put all my affairs in good order for me. There is no god but Thou. Some transmitters added more than others.

حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَظِيمِ،‏‏‏‏ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى،‏‏‏‏ قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ الْجَلِيلِ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ:‏‏‏‏ يَا أَبَتِ إِنِّي أَسْمَعُكَ تَدْعُو كُلَّ غَدَاةٍ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي بَدَنِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي سَمْعِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي بَصَرِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ تُعِيدُهَا ثَلَاثًا حِينَ تُصْبِحُ وَثَلَاثًا حِينَ تُمْسِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدْعُو بِهِنَّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَنَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَسْتَنَّ بِسُنَّتِهِ،‏‏‏‏ قال عَبَّاسٌ فِيهِ:‏‏‏‏ وَتَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكُفْرِ وَالْفَقْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ تُعِيدُهَا ثَلَاثًا حِينَ تُصْبِحُ وَثَلَاثًا حِينَ تُمْسِي فَتَدْعُو بِهِنَّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأُحِبُّ أَنْ أَسْتَنَّ بِسُنَّتِهِ،‏‏‏‏ قال:‏‏‏‏ وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ دَعَوَاتُ الْمَكْرُوبِ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ رَحْمَتَكَ أَرْجُو، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَا تَكِلْنِي إِلَى نَفْسِي طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَصْلِحْ لِي شَأْنِي كُلَّهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ ،‏‏‏‏ وَبَعْضُهُمْ يَزِيدُ عَلَى صَاحِبِهِ.

عبدالرحمٰن بن ابی بکرہ نے اپنے والد سے کہا ابو جان! میں آپ کو ہر صبح یہ دعا پڑھتے ہوئے سنتا ہوں «اللهم عافني في بدني اللهم عافني في سمعي اللهم عافني في بصري لا إله إلا أنت» اے اللہ! تو میرے جسم کو عافیت نصیب کر، اے اللہ! تو میرے کان کو عافیت عطا کر، اے اللہ! تو میری نگاہ کو عافیت سے نواز دے، تیرے سوا کوئی معبود برحق نہیں آپ اسے تین مرتبہ دہراتے ہیں جب صبح کرتے ہیں اور تین مرتبہ جب شام کرتے ہیں؟، تو انہوں نے کہا: میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو یہی دعا کرتے ہوئے سنا ہے، اور مجھے پسند ہے کہ میں آپ کا مسنون طریقہ اپناؤں۔ عباس بن عبدالعظیم کی روایت میں اتنا مزید ہے کہ آپ کہتے «اللهم إني أعوذ بك من الكفر والفقر اللهم إني أعوذ بك من عذاب القبر لا إله إلا أنت» اے اللہ! میں کفر و محتاجی سے تیری پناہ چاہتا ہوں، اے اللہ! میں عذاب قبر سے تیری پناہ چاہتا ہوں، تو ہی معبود برحق ہے تین مرتبہ اسے صبح دہراتے اور تین مرتبہ اسے شام میں، ان کے ذریعہ آپ دعا کرتے تو میں پسند کرتا ہوں کہ آپ کی سنت کا طریقہ اپناؤں، اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: مصیبت زدہ و پریشان حال کے لیے یہ دعا ہے «اللهم رحمتك أرجو فلا تكلني إلى نفسي طرفة عين وأصلح لي شأني كله لا إله إلا أنت» اے اللہ! میں تیری ہی رحمت چاہتا ہوں، تو مجھے ایک لمحہ بھی نظر انداز نہ کر، اور میرے تمام کام درست فرما دے، تیرے سوا کوئی معبود برحق نہیں ہے بعض راوی الفاظ میں کچھ اضافہ کرتے ہیں۔

Abu Hurairah reported the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: if anyone says a hundred times in the morning: “Glory be to Allah, the Sublime, and I begin with praise of him”, and says likewise in the evening, no one from the creatures will bring anything like the one which he will bring.

Narrated Qatadah: When the Prophet of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم saw the new moon, he said: a new moon of good and right guidance; a new moon of good and right guidance; a new moon of good and right guidance. I believe in Him Who created you three times. He would then say: Praise be to Allah Who has made such and such a month to pass and has brought such and such a month.

Narrated Qatadah: When the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم saw the new moon, he turned away his face from it. Abu Dawud said: On this subject there is no tradition which has perfect chain and is sound.

Narrated Umm Salamah, Ummul Muminin: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم never went out of my house without raising his eye to the sky and saying: O Allah! I seek refuge in Thee lest I stray or be led astray, or slip or made to slip, or cause injustice, or suffer injustice, or do wrong, or have wrong done to me.

Narrated Anas ibn Malik: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: When a man goes out of his house and says: In the name of Allah, I trust in Allah; there is no might and no power but in Allah, the following will be said to him at that time: You are guided, defended and protected. The devils will go far from him and another devil will say: How can you deal with a man who has been guided, defended and protected?

Narrated Abu Malik Al-Ashari: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: When a man goes into his house, he should say: O Allah! I ask Thee for good both when entering and when going out; in the name of Allah we have entered, and in the name of Allah we have gone out, and in Allah or Lord do we trust. He should then greet his family.
