Anas bin Malik said: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم used to come to visit us. I had a younger brother who was called Abu ‘Umair by Kunyah (surname). He had a sparrow with which he played, but it died. So one day the prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم came to see him and saw him grieved. He asked: What is the matter with him? The people replied: His sparrow has died. He then said: Abu ‘Umair! What has happened to the little sparrow?
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدْخُلُ عَلَيْنَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلِي أَخٌ صَغِيرٌ يُكْنَى:‏‏‏‏ أَبَا عُمَيْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَانَ لَهُ نُغَرٌ يَلْعَبُ بِهِ فَمَاتَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَرَآهُ حَزِينًا،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَا شَأْنُهُ ؟ قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ مَاتَ نُغَرُهُ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا أَبَا عُمَيْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مَا فَعَلَ النُّغَيْرُ .
انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ہمارے ہاں آتے تھے، اور میرا ایک چھوٹا بھائی تھا جس کی کنیت ابوعمیر تھی، اس کے پاس ایک چڑیا تھی، وہ اس سے کھیلتا تھا، وہ مر گئی، پھر ایک دن اچانک نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اس کے پاس آئے تو اسے رنجیدہ و غمگین دیکھ کر فرمایا: کیا بات ہے؟ لوگوں نے عرض کیا: اس کی چڑیا مر گئی، تو آپ نے فرمایا: اے ابوعمیر! کیا ہوا نغیر ( چڑیا ) کو؟ ۔

Narrated Aishah, Ummul Muminin: Aishah said: Messenger of Allah! All my fellow-wives have kunyahs? He said: Give yourself the kunyah by Abdullah, your son - that is to say, her nephew (her sister's son). Musaddad said: Abdullah ibn az-Zubayr. She was called by the kunyah Umm Abdullah. Abu Dawud said: Qurran bin Tammam and Mamar all have transmitted it from Hisham in a similar manner. It has also been transmitted by Abu Usamah from Hisham, from 'Abbad bin Hamzah. Similarly, Hammad bin Salamah and Maslamah bin Qa'nab have narrated it from Hisham, like the tradition transmitted by Abu Usamah.

The master (of a slave) should say: My young man (fataya) and My young woman (fatati), and a slave should say My master (sayyidi) and My mistress (sayyidati), for you are all (Allah's slave and the Lord is Allah, Most High.
