Explaining the tradition “Every child is a born on Islam”, Hammad bin Salamah said: In our opinion it means that covenant which Allah had taken in the loins of their fathers when He said: “Am I not your Lord? They said: Yes.

حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ حَمَّادَ بْنَ سَلَمَةَ يُفَسِّرُ حَدِيثَ كُلُّ مَوْلُودٍ يُولَدُ عَلَى الْفِطْرَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا عِنْدَنَا حَيْثُ أَخَذَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْعَهْدَ فِي أَصْلَابِ آبَائِهِمْ حَيْثُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَلَسْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ قَالُوا بَلَى سورة الأعراف آية 172 .

حجاج بن منہال کہتے کہ میں نے حماد بن سلمہ کو «كل مولود يولد على الفطرة» ہر بچہ فطرت ( اسلام ) پر پیدا ہوتا ہے ۱؎ کی تفسیر کرتے سنا، آپ نے کہا: ہمارے نزدیک اس سے مراد وہ عہد ہے جو اللہ نے ان سے اسی وقت لے لیا تھا، جب وہ اپنے آباء کی پشتوں میں تھے، اللہ نے ان سے پوچھا تھا: «ألست بربكم قالوا بلى» کیا میں تمہارا رب ( معبود ) نہیں ہوں؟ تو انہوں نے کہا تھا: کیوں نہیں، ضرور ہیں۔

Amir reported the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: The woman who buries alive her new-born girl and the girl who is buried alive both will go to Hell. Narrated Abu Hurairah: I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم say: He then mentioned a tradition like it. This version adds: When they propound that, say: Say Allah is one. Allah is He to Whom men repair. He has not begotten and He has not been begotten, and no one is equal to Him. Then one should spit three times on his left side and seek refuge in Allah from Satan.
