Abu Hurairah said: A man from among the Jews said: By him who chose Moses above the universe. So a Muslim raised his hand and slapped the Jew on his face. The Jew went to the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and informed him. The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Do not make me superior to Moses, for mankind (on the Day of Resurrection) will swoon and I will be the know whether he was among those who swooned and had recovered before me, or he was among those of whom Allah had made an exception. Abu Dawud said: The tradition of Ibn yahya is more perfect.

حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَبِي يَعْقُوبَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ فَارِسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ:‏‏‏‏ وَالَّذِي اصْطَفَى مُوسَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَرَفَعَ الْمُسْلِمُ يَدَهُ فَلَطَمَ وَجْهَ الْيَهُودِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَذَهَبَ الْيَهُودِيُّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا تُخَيِّرُونِي عَلَى مُوسَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنَّ النَّاسَ يُصْعَقُونَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَكُونُ أَوَّلَ مَنْ يُفِيقُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِذَا مُوسَى بَاطِشٌ فِي جَانِبِ الْعَرْشِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَا أَدْرِي أَكَانَ مِمَّنْ صَعِقَ فَأَفَاقَ قَبْلِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ كَانَ مِمَّنْ اسْتَثْنَى اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ وَحَدِيثُ ابْنِ يَحْيَى أَتَمُّ.

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ یہود کے ایک شخص نے کہا: قسم اس ذات کی جس نے موسیٰ علیہ السلام کو چن لیا، یہ سن کر مسلمان نے یہودی کے چہرہ پر طمانچہ رسید کر دیا، یہودی رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس گیا اور اس کی شکایت کی تو آپ نے فرمایا: مجھے موسیٰ علیہ السلام پر فضیلت نہ دو، ( پہلا صور پھونکنے سے ) سب لوگ بیہوش ہو جائیں گے تو سب سے پہلے میں ہوش میں آؤں گا، اس وقت موسیٰ علیہ السلام عرش کا ایک کنارا مضبوطی سے پکڑے ہوئے ہوں گے، تو مجھے نہیں معلوم کہ آیا وہ ان لوگوں میں سے تھے جو بیہوش ہو گئے تھے اور مجھ سے پہلے ہوش میں آ گئے، یا ان لوگوں میں سے تھے جنہیں اللہ نے بیہوش ہونے سے محفوظ رکھا ۱؎ ۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: ابن یحییٰ کی حدیث زیادہ کامل ہے۔

Anas said: A man said to the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم: O best of all creatures! The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: That was Abraham صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم.

Abu Hurairah reported the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: I shall be pre-eminent among the descendants of Adam, the first from whom the earth will be cleft open the first intercessor, and the first whose intercession will be accepted.

Abu Hurairah said: I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم say: I am the nearest of kin among the people to (Jesus) son of Mary. The Prophet are brothers, sons of one father by co-wives. There is no Prophet between me and him.

Abu Hurairah reported the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: Faith has over seventy branches, the most excellent of which is the declaration that there is no god but Allah, and the humblest of which is the removal of a bone from the road. And modesty is a branch of faith.

Ibn Abbas said: When the deputation of Abd al-Qais came to the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم, he commanded them to believe in Allah. He asked: Do you know what faith in Allah is? They replied: Allah and his Messenger know best. He said: It includes the testimony that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is Allah’s Messenger, the observance of the prayer, the payment of zakat, the fasts of Ramadan, and your giving a fifth of the booty.
