Narrated Ali ibn Abu Talib: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: There are three (persons) whose actions are not recorded: a sleeper till he awakes, a boy till he reaches puberty, and a lunatic till he comes to reason. Abu Dawud said: Ibn Juraij has transmitted it from Al-Qasim bin Yazid on the authority of Ali from the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. This version adds: and an old man who is feeble-minded.
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ خَالِدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي الضُّحَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَلِيٍّ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ رُفِعَ الْقَلَمُ عَنْ ثَلَاثَةٍ:‏‏‏‏ عَنِ النَّائِمِ حَتَّى يَسْتَيْقِظَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَنِ الصَّبِيِّ حَتَّى يَحْتَلِمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَنِ الْمَجْنُونِ حَتَّى يَعْقِلَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ رَوَاهُ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ زَادَ فِيهِ وَالْخَرِفِ.
علی رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: قلم تین آدمیوں سے اٹھا لیا گیا ہے: سوئے ہوئے شخص سے یہاں تک کہ وہ بیدار ہو جائے، بچے سے یہاں تک کہ وہ بالغ ہو جائے، اور دیوانے سے یہاں تک کہ اسے عقل آ جائے ۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: اسے ابن جریج نے قاسم بن یزید سے انہوں نے علی رضی اللہ عنہ سے، علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے مرفوعاً روایت کیا ہے، اور اس میں کھوسٹ بوڑھے کا اضافہ ہے۔

Narrated Atiyyah al-Qurazi: I was among the captives of Banu Qurayzah. They (the Companions) examined us, and those who had begun to grow hair (pubes) were killed, and those who had not were not killed. I was among those who had not grown hair.

Narrated Busr ibn Artat: Junadah ibn Abu Umayyah said: We were with Busr ibn Artat on the sea (on an expedition). A thief called Misdar who had stolen a bukhti she-camel was brought. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم say: Hands are not to be cut off during a warlike expedition. Had it not been so, I would have cut it off.

He said: how will you do when death smites people, and a house, meaning a grave, will cost as much as a slave. I said: Allah and His Messenger know best, or he said: What Allah and His Messenger choose for me. He said: Show endurance, or he said: You may show endurance. Abu Dawud said: Hammad bin Abi Sulaiman said: The hand of one who rifles a grave should be cut off because he had entered the deceased's house.
