Narrated Saeed ibn Zayd: We were with the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. He mentioned civil strife (fitnah) and expressed its gravity. We or the people said: Messenger of Allah, if this happens to us it will destroy us. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said; No. It is enough for you that you would be killed. Saeed said: I saw that my brethren were killed.

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ سَلَّامُ بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ يَسَافٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كُنَّا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ فِتْنَةً فَعَظَّمَ أَمْرَهَا فَقُلْنَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَئِنْ أَدْرَكَتْنَا هَذِهِ لَتُهْلِكَنَّا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ كَلَّا إِنَّ بِحَسْبِكُمُ الْقَتْلُ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَعِيدٌ فَرَأَيْتُ إِخْوَانِي قُتِلُوا.

سعید بن زید رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ ہم نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس تھے آپ نے ایک فتنہ اور اس کی ہولناکی کا ذکر کیا تو ہم نے یا لوگوں نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! اگر اس فتنہ نے ہم کو پا لیا تو ہم کو تو تباہ کر ڈالے گا؟ تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ہرگز نہیں، بس تمہارا قتل ہو جانا ہی کافی ہو گا ۔ سعید کہتے ہیں: میں نے اپنے بھائیوں کو ( جمل و صفین میں ) قتل ہوتے دیکھ لیا۔

Narrated Abu Musa: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: This people of mine is one to which mercy is shown. It will have no punishment in the next world, but its punishment in this world will be trials, earthquakes and being killed.

Narrated Jabir ibn Samurah: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: The religion will continue to be established till there are twelve caliphs over you, and the whole community will agree on each of them. I then heard from the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم some remarks which I could not understand. I asked my father: What is he saying: He said: all of them will belong to Quraysh.

Narrated Jabir bin Samurah: I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم say: This religion will continue to be strong till the time of twelve caliphs. The people then uttered: Allah is more great and uproared. He then silently a word which I could not understand. So I said to my father: What did he say, father ? He said: All of them will belong to Quraish.

The tradition mentioned above has also been transmitted by Jabir bin Samurah through a different chain of narrators. This version adds: When he came back to his home. the Quraish came to him and said: Then what will happen ? He said: Then turmoil will prevail.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Masud: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: If only one day of this world remained. Allah would lengthen that day (according to the version of Zaidah), till He raised up in it a man who belongs to me or to my family whose father's name is the same as my father's, who will fill the earth with equity and justice as it has been filled with oppression and tyranny (according to the version of Fitr). Sufyan's version says: The world will not pass away before the Arabs are ruled by a man of my family whose name will be the same as mine. Abu Dawud said: The version of Umar and Abu Bakr is the same as that of Sufyan.

Narrated Ali ibn Abu Talib: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: If only one day of this time (world) remained, Allah would raise up a man from my family who would fill this earth with justice as it has been filled with oppression.
