Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Gabriel صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم came to me and said: I came to you last night and was prevented from entering simply because there were images at the door, for there was a decorated curtain with images on it in the house, and there was a dog in the house. So order the head of the image which is in the house to be cut off so that it resembles the form of a tree; order the curtain to be cut up and made into two cushions spread out on which people may tread; and order the dog to be turned out. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم then did so. The dog belonged to al-Hasan or al-Husayn and was under their couch. So he ordered it to be turned out. Abu Dawud said: Al-Nadd means a thing on which clothes are placed like a couch.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو صَالِحٍ مَحْبُوبُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاق الْفَزَارِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ أَبِي إِسْحَاق، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ أَتَانِي جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ لِي:‏‏‏‏ أَتَيْتُكَ الْبَارِحَةَ فَلَمْ يَمْنَعْنِي أَنْ أَكُونَ دَخَلْتُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ كَانَ عَلَى الْبَابِ تَمَاثِيلُ وَكَانَ فِي الْبَيْتِ قِرَامُ سِتْرٍ فِيهِ تَمَاثِيلُ وَكَانَ فِي الْبَيْتِ كَلْبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَمُرْ بِرَأْسِ التِّمْثَالِ الَّذِي فِي الْبَيْتِ يُقْطَعُ فَيَصِيرُ كَهَيْئَةِ الشَّجَرَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمُرْ بِالسِّتْرِ فَلْيُقْطَعْ فَلْيُجْعَلْ مِنْهُ وِسَادَتَيْنِ مَنْبُوذَتَيْنِ تُوطَآَنِ وَمُرْ بِالْكَلْبِ فَلْيُخْرَجْ فَفَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَإِذَا الْكَلْبُ لِحَسَنٍ أَوْ حُسَيْنٍ كَانَ تَحْتَ نَضَدٍ لَهُمْ فَأُمِرَ بِهِ فَأُخْرِجَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ وَالنَّضَدُ شَيْءٌ تُوضَعُ عَلَيْهِ الثِّيَابُ شَبَهُ السَّرِيرِ.

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: میرے پاس جبرائیل علیہ السلام نے آ کر کہا: میں کل رات آپ کے پاس آیا تھا لیکن اندر نہ آنے کی وجہ صرف وہ تصویریں رہیں جو آپ کے دروازے پر تھیں اور آپ کے گھر میں ( دروازے پر ) ایک منقش پردہ تھا جس میں تصویریں بنی ہوئی تھیں، اور گھر میں کتا بھی تھا تو آپ کہہ دیں کہ گھر میں جو تصویریں ہوں ان کا سر کاٹ دیں تاکہ وہ درخت کی شکل کی ہو جائیں، اور پردے کو پھاڑ کر اس کے دو غالیچے بنا لیں تاکہ وہ بچھا کر پیروں سے روندے جائیں اور حکم دیں کہ کتے کو باہر نکال دیا جائے ، تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ایسا ہی کیا، اسی دوران حسن یا حسین رضی اللہ عنہما کا کتا ان کے تخت کے نیچے بیٹھا نظر آیا، آپ نے حکم دیا تو وہ بھی باہر نکال دیا گیا۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: «نضد» چارپائی کی شکل کی ایک چیز ہے جس پر کپڑے رکھے جاتے ہیں۔

Narrated Abdullah ibn Mughaffal: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم forbade combing the hair except every second day.

Abdullah ibn Buraydah said: A man from the companions of the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم travelled to Fudalah ibn Ubayd when he was in Egypt. He came to him and said: I have not come to you to visit you. But you and I heard a tradition from the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. I hope you may have some knowledge of it. He asked: What is it? He replied: So and so. He said: Why do I see you dishevelled when you are the ruler of this land? He said: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم has forbidden us to indulge much in luxury. He said: Why do I see you unshod? He replied: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم used to command us to go barefoot at times.

Narrated Aishah, Ummul Muminin: Karimah, daughter of Hammam, told that a woman came to Aishah (Allah be pleased with her) and asked her about dyeing with henna. She replied: There is no harm, but I do not like it. My beloved, the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم, disliked its odour. Abu Dawud said: She meant the colour of hair of the head.
