Narrated Alaqah ibn Sahar at-Tamimi: We proceeded from the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and came to a clan of the Arabs. They said: We have been told that you have brought what is good from this man. Have you any medicine or a charm, for we have a lunatic in chains? We said: Yes. Then they brought a lunatic in chains. He said: I recited Surat al-Fatihah over him for three days, morning and evening. Whenever I finished it, I would collect my saliva and spit it out, and he seemed as if he were set free from a bond. He said: They gave me some payment, but I said: No, not until I ask the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. He (the Prophet) said: Accept it, for, by my life, some accept it for a worthless charm, but you have done so for a genuine one.

حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي. ح وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ بَشَّارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي السَّفَرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ خَارِجَةَ بْنِ الصَّلْتِ التَّمِيمِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَمِّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَقْبَلْنَا مِنْ عِنْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَتَيْنَا عَلَى حَيٍّ مِنْ الْعَرَبِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّا أُنْبِئْنَا أَنَّكُمْ جِئْتُمْ مِنْ عِنْدِ هَذَا الرَّجُلِ بِخَيْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَهَلْ عِنْدَكُمْ مِنْ دَوَاءٍ أَوْ رُقْيَةٍ فَإِنَّ عِنْدَنَا مَعْتُوهًا فِي الْقُيُودِ ؟، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَقُلْنَا:‏‏‏‏ نَعَمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَجَاءُوا بِمَعْتُوهٍ فِي الْقُيُودِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَقَرَأْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَاتِحَةَ الْكِتَابِ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ غُدْوَةً وَعَشِيَّةً كُلَّمَا خَتَمْتُهَا أَجْمَعُ بُزَاقِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ أَتْفُلُ فَكَأَنَّمَا نَشَطَ مِنْ عِقَالٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَأَعْطَوْنِي جُعْلًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ لَا حَتَّى أَسْأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كُلْ فَلَعَمْرِي مَنْ أَكَلَ بِرُقْيَةِ بَاطِلٍ لَقَدْ أَكَلْتَ بِرُقْيَةِ حَقٍّ .

خارجہ بن صلت تمیمی اپنے چچا سے روایت کرتے ہیں، وہ کہتے ہیں ہم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس سے چلے اور عرب کے ایک قبیلہ کے پاس آئے تو وہ لوگ کہنے لگے: ہمیں معلوم ہوا ہے کہ آپ اس شخص کے پاس سے آ رہے ہیں جو خیر و بھلائی لے کر آیا ہے تو کیا آپ کے پاس کوئی دوا یا منتر ہے؟ کیونکہ ہمارے پاس ایک دیوانہ ہے جو بیڑیوں میں جکڑا ہوا ہے، ہم نے کہا: ہاں، تو وہ اس پاگل کو بیڑیوں میں جکڑا ہوا لے کر آئے، میں اس پر تین دن تک سورۃ فاتحہ پڑھ کر دم کرتا رہا، وہ اچھا ہو گیا جیسے کوئی قید سے چھوٹ گیا ہو، پھر انہوں نے مجھے اس کی اجرت دی، میں نے کہا: میں نہیں لوں گا جب تک میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے پوچھ نہ لوں، چنانچہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے پوچھا تو آپ نے فرمایا: کھاؤ، قسم ہے میری عمر کی لوگ تو جھوٹا منتر کر کے کھاتے ہیں تم نے تو جائز منتر کر کے کھایا ہے ۔

Narrated Aishah: the wife of Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: When the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم suffered from some pain, he recited mu'awwadhat in his heart and blew (them over him). When the pain became severe, I recited (them) over him and wiped him with his hand in the hope of its blessing.

Narrated Aishah, Ummul Muminin: My mother intended to make me gain weight to send me to the (house of) the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. But nothing which she desired benefited me till she gave me cucumber with fresh dates to eat. Then I gained as much weight (as she desired).

Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: If anyone resorts to a diviner and believes in what he says (according) to the version of Musa), or has intercourse with his wife (according to the agreed version) when she is menstruating, or has intercourse with his wife through her anus, he has nothing to do with what has been sent down to Muhammad صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم - according to the version of Musaddad.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: If anyone acquires any knowledge of astrology, he acquires a branch of magic of which he gets more as long as he continues to do so.

Narrated Zaid bin Khalid Al-Juhani: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم led us in the morning prayer at al-Hudaibiyyah after rain which has fallen during the night, and when he finished, he turned to the people and said: Do you know what your Lord has said ? They said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He said: This morning there were among mt servants one who believes in me and one who disbelieves. The one who said: We have been given rain by Allah's grace and mercy is the one who believes in me and disbelieves in the star ; but the one who said: We have been given rain by such and such a rain star, is the one who disbelieves in me and believes in the star.

Narrated Qabisah: I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم say: Augury from the flight of birds, taking evil omens and the practice of pressomancy pertain to divination. Tarq: It is used in the sense of divination in which women threw stones. 'Iyafah: It means geomancy by drawing lines.
