Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah: I asked the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم about the hyena. He replied: It is game, and if one who is wearing ihram (pilgrim's robe) hunts it, he should give a sheep as atonement.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْخُزَاعِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الضَّبُعِ ؟، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ هُوَ صَيْدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَيُجْعَلُ فِيهِ كَبْشٌ إِذَا صَادَهُ الْمُحْرِمُ .

جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے لکڑبگھا ( لگڑ بگڑ ) ۱؎ کے متعلق پوچھا تو آپ نے فرمایا: وہ شکار ہے اور جب محرم اس کا شکار کرے تو اسے ایک دنبے کا دم دینا پڑے گا

Abu Thalabah al-Khushani said: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم prohibited eating fanged beast of pery.

Ibn Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم prohibited the eating of every beast of prey with fang, and every bird with a talon.

Narrated Al-Miqdam ibn Madikarib: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Beware, the fanged beast of prey is not lawful, nor the domestic asses, nor the find from the property of a man with whom treaty has been concluded, except that he did not need it. If anyone is a guest of people who provide no hospitality for him, he is entitled to take from them the equivalent of the hospitality due to him.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: On the day of Khaybar the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم prohibited eating every beast of prey, and every bird with a talon.

Narrated Khalid ibn al-Walid: I went with the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم to fight at the battle of Khaybar, and the Jews came and complained that the people had hastened to take their protected property (as a booty), so the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: The property of those who have been given a mules, every fanged beast of prey, and every bird with a talon are forbidden for you.
