Abu Jafar Muhammad bin Ali reported from Samurah ibn Jundub that he had a row of palm-trees in the garden of a man of the Ansar. The man had his family with him. Samurah used to visit his palm-trees, and the man was annoyed by that and felt it keenly. So he asked him (Samurah) to sell them to him, but he refused. He then asked him to take something else in exchange, but he refused. So he came to the Holy Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and mentioned it to him. The Holy Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم asked him to sell it to him, but he refused. He asked him to take something else in exchange, but he refused. He then said: Give it to him and you can have such and such, mentioning something with which he tried to please him, but he refused. He then said: You are a nuisance. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم then said to the Ansari: Go and uproot his palm-trees.

حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْعَتَكِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا وَاصِلٌ مَوْلَى أَبِي عُيَيْنَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّيُحَدِّثُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ أَنَّهُ كَانَتْ لَهُ عَضُدٌ مِنْ نَخْلٍ فِي حَائِطِ رَجُلٍ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَمَعَ الرَّجُلِ أَهْلُهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَكَانَ سَمُرَةُ يَدْخُلُ إِلَى نَخْلِهِ فَيَتَأَذَّى بِهِ وَيَشُقُّ عَلَيْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَطَلَبَ إِلَيْهِ أَنْ يَبِيعَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَبَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَطَلَبَ إِلَيْهِ أَنْ يُنَاقِلَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَبَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَطَلَبَ إِلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَبِيعَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَبَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَطَلَبَ إِلَيْهِ أَنْ يُنَاقِلَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَبَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَهِبْهُ لَهُ وَلَكَ كَذَا وَكَذَا أَمْرًا رَغَّبَهُ فِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَبَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْتَ مُضَارٌّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِلْأَنْصَارِيِّ:‏‏‏‏ اذْهَبْ فَاقْلَعْ نَخْلَهُ .

سمرہ بن جندب رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ ایک انصاری کے باغ میں ان کے کھجور کے کچھ چھوٹے چھوٹے درخت تھے، اور اس شخص کے ساتھ اس کے اہل و عیال بھی رہتے تھے۔ راوی کا بیان ہے کہ سمرہ رضی اللہ عنہ جب اپنے درختوں کے لیے جاتے تو انصاری کو تکلیف ہوتی اور ان پر شاق گزرتا اس لیے انصاری نے ان سے اسے فروخت کر دینے کا مطالبہ کیا، لیکن انہوں نے انکار کر دیا، پھر اس نے ان سے یہ گزارش کی کہ وہ درخت کا تبادلہ کر لیں وہ اس پر بھی راضی نہیں ہوئے تو وہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آیا اور اس نے آپ سے اس واقعہ کو بیان کیا، تو آپ نے بھی ان سے فرمایا: اسے بیچ ڈالو پھر بھی وہ نہ مانے تو نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان سے درخت کے تبادلہ کی پیش کش کی لیکن وہ اپنی بات پر اڑے رہے تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: پھر تم اسے ہبہ کر دو، اس کے عوض فلاں فلاں چیزیں لے لو بہت رغبت دلائی مگر وہ نہ مانے، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: تم «مضار» یعنی ایذا دینے والے ہو تب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے انصاری سے فرمایا: جاؤ ان کے درختوں کو اکھیڑ ڈالو ۔

Narrated Abdullah ibn az-Zubayr: A man disputed with az-Zubayr about streamlets in the lava plain which was irrigated by them. The Ansari said: Release the water and let it run, but az-Zubayr refused. The Holy Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said to az-Zubayr: Water (your ground), Zubayr, then let the water run to your neighbour. The Ansari then became angry and said: Messenger of Allah! it is because he is your cousin! Thereupon the face of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم changed colour and he said: Water (your ground), then keep back the water till it returns to the embankment. Az-Zubayr said: By Allah! I think this verse came down about that: But no, by thy Lord! they can have no (real) faith, until they make thee judge. . . . .

Narrated Thalabah ibn Abu Malik: Thalabah heard his elders say that a man from the Quraysh had his share with Banu Qurayzah (in water). He brought the dispute to the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم about al-Mahzur, a stream whose water they shared together. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم then decided that when water reached the ankles waters should not be held back to flow to the lower.

Amr bin Shuaib on his father's authority said that his grandfather told that the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم decided regarding the stream al-Mahzur that its water should be held back till it reached the ankles, and that the upper waters should then be allowed to flow to the lower.

Narrated Abu Saeed al-Khudri: Two men brought their dispute about the precincts of a palm-tree to the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. According to a version of this tradition, he ordered to measure and it was measured. It was found seven yards. According to another version, it was found five yards. He made a decision according to that. Abdul Aziz said: He ordered to measure with a branch of its branches. It was then measured.

Narrated Kathir ibn Qays: Kathir ibn Qays said: I was sitting with Abud Darda in the mosque of Damascus. A man came to him and said: Abud Darda, I have come to you from the town of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم for a tradition that I have heard you relate from the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. I have come for no other purpose. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم say: If anyone travels on a road in search of knowledge, Allah will cause him to travel on one of the roads of Paradise. The angels will lower their wings in their great pleasure with one who seeks knowledge, the inhabitants of the heavens and the Earth and the fish in the deep waters will ask forgiveness for the learned man. The superiority of the learned man over the devout is like that of the moon, on the night when it is full, over the rest of the stars. The learned are the heirs of the Prophets, and the Prophets leave neither dinar nor dirham, leaving only knowledge, and he who takes it takes an abundant portion.
