Abu Saeed al-Khudri and Abu Hurairah reported the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: If anyone takes a bath on Friday, puts on his best clothes, applies a touch of perfume if has any, then goes to congregational prayer (in the mosque), and takes care not to step over people, then prayer what Allah has prescribes for him, then keeps silent from the time his Imam comes out until he finishes his prayer, it will atone for his sins during the previous week. Abu Hurairah said: (It will atone for his sins) for three days more. he further said: One is rewarded ten times for doing a good work. Abu Dawud said: The version narrated by Muhammad bin Salamah is perfect, and Hammad did not make a mention of the statement of Abu Hurairah.

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ خَالِدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَوْهَبٍ الرَّمْلِيُّ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ. ح حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْحَرَّانِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ. ح حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهَذَا حَدِيثُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ يَزِيدُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏في حديثهما عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ مَنِ اغْتَسَلَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَلَبِسَ مِنْ أَحْسَنِ ثِيَابِهِ وَمَسَّ مِنْ طِيبٍ إِنْ كَانَ عِنْدَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ أَتَى الْجُمُعَةَ فَلَمْ يَتَخَطَّ أَعْنَاقَ النَّاسِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ صَلَّى مَا كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ أَنْصَتَ إِذَا خَرَجَ إِمَامُهُ حَتَّى يَفْرُغَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏كَانَتْ كَفَّارَةً لِمَا بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ جُمُعَتِهِ الَّتِي قَبْلَهَا ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَيَقُولُ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةِ:‏‏‏‏ وَزِيَادَةٌ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَيَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ الْحَسَنَةَ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ وَحَدِيثُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ أَتَمُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ حَمَّادٌ كَلَامَ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ.

ابو سعید خدری اور ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جو شخص جمعہ کے دن غسل کرے، اپنے کپڑوں میں سے اچھے کپڑے پہنے، اور اگر اس کے پاس ہو تو خوشبو لگائے، پھر جمعہ کے لیے آئے اور لوگوں کی گردنیں نہ پھاندے، پھر اللہ نے جو نماز اس کے لیے مقدر کر رکھی ہے پڑھے، پھر امام کے ( خطبہ کے لیے ) نکلنے سے لے کر نماز سے فارغ ہونے تک خاموش رہے، تو یہ ساری چیزیں اس کے ان گناہوں کا کفارہ ہوں گی جو اس جمعہ اور اس کے پہلے والے جمعہ کے درمیان اس سے سرزد ہوئے ہیں ، راوی کہتے ہیں: ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں: اور مزید تین دن کے گناہوں کا بھی، اس لیے کہ ایک نیکی کا ثواب دس گنا ہوتا ہے۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: محمد بن سلمہ کی حدیث زیادہ کامل ہے اور حماد نے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کا کلام ذکر نہیں کیا ہے۔

Abdur-Rahman bin Abi Saeed al-Khudri quotes his father as saying: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Washing and the use of tooth-stick are necessary for every adult (person) on Friday; and everyone should apply perfume whatever one has. The narrator Bukair did not mention of Abdur-Rahman; and about perfume he said that even it might be of the kind used by women.

Narrated Aws ibn Aws ath-Thaqafi: I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم say: If anyone makes (his wife) wash and he washes himself on Friday, goes out early (for Friday prayer), attends the sermon from the beginning, walking, not riding, takes his seat near the imam, listens attentively, and does not indulge in idle talk, he will get the reward of a year's fasting and praying at night for every step he takes.

Aws al-Thaqafi reported the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: If anyone washes his head on Friday and washes himself; and he narrated the rest of the tradition as above.

Abdullah bin Amr al-As reported the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: Whoever washed himself on Friday and applies perfume of his wife if she has one, and wears good clothes and does not step over the necks of the people (in the mosque to sit in the front row) and does not indulge in idle talk during the sermon, that will atone (for his sins) between the two Fridays. But he who indulges in idle talk and steps over the necks of people (in the mosque), that (Friday) will be for him like the noon prayer.

Narrated Aishah, Ummul Muminin: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم would take a bath because of sexual defilement on Friday, after opening a vein and after washing a dead body.

Makhul was asked about the meaning of words ghassala and ightasala (that occur in tradition 345) and he said: one should was one's head and body well (and not than one should makes one's wife wash).
