Narrated Jabir ibn Samurah: A man fell ill and a cry was raised (for his death). So his neighbour came to the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and said to him: He has died. He asked: Who told you? He said: I have seen him. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: He has not died. He then returned. A cry was again raised (for his death). He came to the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and said: He has died. The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: He has not died. He then returned. A cry was again raised over him. His wife said: Go to the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and inform him. The man said: O Allah, curse him. He said: The man then went and saw that he had killed himself with an arrowhead. So he went to the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and informed him that he had died. He asked: Who told you? He replied: I myself saw that he had killed himself with arrowheads. He asked: Have you seen him? He replied: Yes. He then said: Then I shall not pray over him.

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُفَيْلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا سِمَاكٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي جَابِرُ بْنُ سَمُرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَرِضَ رَجُلٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَصِيحَ عَلَيْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَجَاءَ جَارُهُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ لَهُ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّهُ قَدْ مَاتَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنَا رَأَيْتُهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَمُتْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَرَجَعَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَصِيحَ عَلَيْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَجَاءَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّهُ قَدْ مَاتَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَمُتْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَرَجَعَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَصِيحَ عَلَيْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَتِ امْرَأَتُهُ:‏‏‏‏ انْطَلِقْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَخْبِرْهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ انْطَلَقَ الرَّجُلُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَرَآهُ قَدْ نَحَرَ نَفْسَهُ بِمِشْقَصٍ مَعَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَانْطَلَقَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ قَدْ مَاتَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَا يُدْرِيكَ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ رَأَيْتُهُ يَنْحَرُ نَفْسَهُ بِمَشَاقِصَ مَعَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْتَ رَأَيْتَهُ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ نَعَمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِذًا لَا أُصَلِّيَ عَلَيْهِ .

جابر بن سمرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں ایک شخص بیمار ہوا پھر اس کی موت کی خبر پھیلی تو اس کا پڑوسی رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آیا، اور اس نے آپ سے عرض کیا کہ وہ مر گیا ہے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے پوچھا: تمہیں کیسے معلوم ہوا؟ ، وہ بولا: میں اسے دیکھ کر آیا ہوں، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: وہ نہیں مرا ہے ، وہ پھر لوٹ گیا، پھر اس کے مرنے کی خبر پھیلی، پھر وہی شخص رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آیا اور عرض کیا: وہ مر گیا ہے، نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: وہ نہیں مرا ہے ، تو وہ پھر لوٹ گیا، اس کے بعد پھر اس کے مرنے کی خبر مشہور ہوئی، تو اس کی بیوی نے کہا: تم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس جاؤ اور اس کے مرنے کی آپ کو خبر دو، اس نے کہا: اللہ کی لعنت ہو اس پر۔ پھر وہ شخص مریض کے پاس گیا تو دیکھا کہ اس نے تیر کے پیکان سے اپنا گلا کاٹ ڈالا ہے، وہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس گیا اور اس نے آپ کو بتایا کہ وہ مر گیا ہے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے پوچھا: تمہیں کیسے پتا لگا؟ ، اس نے کہا: میں نے دیکھا ہے اس نے تیر کی پیکان سے اپنا گلا کاٹ لیا ہے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے پوچھا: کیا تم نے خود دیکھا ہے؟ ، اس نے کہا: ہاں، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: تب تو میں اس کی نماز ( جنازہ ) نہیں پڑھوں گا ۔

Narrated Aishah, Ummul Muminin: Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم, died when he was eighteen months old. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم did not pray over him.

Narrated Al-Bahiyy: When Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم died, he prayed over him at the place where he used to sit. Abu Dawud said: I recited to Saeed bin Ya'qub al-Taliqani saying: Ibn al-Mubarak transmitted to you from Ya'qub bin al-Qa'qa' on the authority of Ata that the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم prayed over his some Ibrahim when he was seventeen days old.
