Urwah bin al-Zubair said the Fatimah daughter of Abu Hubaish had a prolonged flow of blood. The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said to her: When the blood of menses comes, it is black blood with can be recognized; so when that comes, refrain from prayer, but when a different type comes, perform ablution and pray. Abu Dawud said: Ibn al-Muthanna said: Ibn Adi narrated this tradition from his memory on the authority of Urwah from Aishah. Abu Dawud said: This tradition has also been transmitted by al-'Ala bin al-Musayyab and Shubah from al-Hakam on the authority of Abu Jafar. Al-'Ala reported it as a statement of the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم, and Shubah as a statement of Abu Jafar, saying: She should perform ablution for every prayer.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَمْرٍو، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ أَبِي حُبَيْشٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تُسْتَحَاضُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ لَهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا كَانَ دَمُ الْحَيْضِ فَإِنَّهُ دَمٌ أَسْوَدُ يُعْرَفُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِذَا كَانَ ذَلِكَ فَأَمْسِكِي عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِذَا كَانَ الْآخَرُ فَتَوَضَّئِي وَصَلِّي ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ ابْنُ الْمُثَنَّى:‏‏‏‏ وَحَدَّثَنَا بِهِ ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ حِفْظًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ فَاطِمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ وَرُوِيَ عَنْ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَشُعْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْحَكَمِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ الْعَلَاءُ:‏‏‏‏ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَوْقَفَهُ شُعْبَةُ عَلَى أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ:‏‏‏‏ تَوَضَّأُ لِكُلِّ صَلَاةٍ.

فاطمہ بنت ابی حبیش رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ انہیں استحاضہ کی شکایت تھی تو نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان سے فرمایا: جب حیض کا خون ہو ( جو کہ بالکل سیاہ ہوتا ہے اور پہچان لیا جاتا ہے ) تو تم نماز سے رک جاؤ اور جب دوسری طرح کا خون آنے لگے تو وضو کرو اور نماز پڑھو ۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں کہ ابن مثنی نے کہا ہے کہ ابن ابی عدی نے اسے ہم سے زبانی بیان کیا تو اس میں انہوں نے «عن عروة عن عائشة أن فاطمة» کہا۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: نیز یہ حدیث علاء بن مسیب اور شعبہ سے مروی ہے انہوں نے حکم سے اور حکم نے ابو جعفر سے روایت کیا ہے مگر علاء نے اسے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے مرفوعاً اور شعبہ نے ابو جعفر سے موقوفاً بیان کیا ہے، اس میں یہ ہے کہ وہ ہر نماز کے لیے وضو کرے۔

Narrated Umm Habibah daughter of Jahsh: Ikrimah said: Umm Habibah daughter of Jahsh had a prolonged flow of blood. The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم commanded her to refrain (from prayer) during her menstrual period; then she should wash and pray, if she sees anything (which renders ablution void) she should perform ablution and pray.

Rabiah said: Umm Habibah daughter of Jahsh had a prolonged flow of blood. The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم commander her to refrain (from prayer) during her menstrual period; then she should wash and pray. If she sees anything (which renders ablution void) she should perform ablution and pray. Abu Dawud said: This is the view held by Malik bin Anas.
