Al Sab bin Jaththamah said that he asked the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم about the polytheists whose settlemnst were attacked at night when some of their offspring and women were smitten. The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم “They are of them. Amr bin Dinar used to say “they are regarded in the same way as their parents. ” Al-Zuhri said: Thereafter the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم prohibited to kill women and children.
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ السَّرْحِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الصَّعْبِ ابْنِ جَثَّامَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الدَّارِ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ يُبَيَّتُونَ فَيُصَابُ مِنْ ذَرَارِيِّهِمْ وَنِسَائِهِمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ هُمْ مِنْهُمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَانَ عَمْرٌو يَعْنِي ابْنَ دِينَارٍ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ هُمْ مِنْ آبَائِهِمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ:‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ عَنْ قَتْلِ النِّسَاءِ وَالْوِلْدَانِ .
صعب بن جثامہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ   انہوں نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے مشرکین کے گھروں کے بارے میں پوچھا کہ اگر ان پر شب خون مارا جائے اور ان کے بچے اور بیوی زخمی ہوں ( تو کیا حکم ہے؟ ) ، تو نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: وہ بھی انہیں میں سے ہیں اور عمرو بن دینار کہتے تھے: وہ اپنے آباء ہی میں سے ہیں ۔ زہری کہتے ہیں: پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس کے بعد عورتوں اور بچوں کے قتل سے منع فرما دیا۔

Narrated Hamzah al-Aslami: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم appointed him commander over a detachment. He said: I went out along with it. He (the Prophet) said: If you find so-and-so, burn him with the fire. I then turned away, and he called me. So I returned to him, and he said: If you find so-and-so, kill him, and do not burn him, for no one punishes with fire except the Lord of the fire.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Masud: We were with the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم during a journey. He went to ease himself. We saw a bird with her two young ones and we captured her young ones. The bird came and began to spread its wings. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم came and said: Who grieved this for its young ones? Return its young ones to it. He also saw an ant village that we had burnt. He asked: Who has burnt this? We replied: We. He said: It is not proper to punish with fire except the Lord of fire.

Narrated Wathilah ibn al-Asqa: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم announced to go on expedition for Tabuk. I went to my family and then proceeded (on journey). The vanguard of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم had already proceeded. So I began to announce loudly in Madina: Is there anyone who takes a man on his ride, and he will get his share (from the booty? An old man from the Ansar (Helpers) spoke loudly: We shall have his share if we take him with us on our mount by turns, and he will have his meal with us. I said: Yes. He said: So go on journey with Allah's blessing. I then proceeded along with my best companion and Allah gave us booty. Some she-camels were given to me as my share of booty. I drove them till I reached him. He came out and sat on the rear part of the saddle of his camel. He then said: Drive them backward. He again said: Drive them forward. He then said: I find your she-camels very gentle. He said: This is your booty which I stipulated for you. He replied: Take your she-camels, my nephew; we did not intend (to get) your portion.

Narrated Jundub ibn Makith: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم sent Abdullah ibn Ghalib al-Laythi along with a detachment and I was also with them. He ordered them to attach Banu al-Mulawwih from all sides at al-Kadid. So we went out and when we reached al-Kadid we met al-Harith ibn al-Barsa al-Laythi, and seized him. He said: I came with the intention of embracing Islam, and I came out to go to the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. We said: If you are a Muslim, there is no harm if we keep you in chains for a day and night; and if you are not, we shall tie you with chains. So we tied him with chains.
