Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: When your brethren were smitten at the battle of Uhud, Allah put their spirits in the crops of green birds which go down to the rivers of Paradise, eat its fruit and nestle in lamps of gold in the shade of the Throne. Then when they experienced the sweetness of their food, drink and rest, they asked: Who will tell our brethren about us that we are alive in Paradise provided with provision, in order that they might not be disinterested in jihad and recoil in war? Allah Most High said: I shall tell them about you; so Allah sent down; And do not consider those who have been killed in Allah's path. till the end of the verse.

حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاق، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيل بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لَمَّا أُصِيبَ إِخْوَانُكُمْ بِأُحُدٍ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ أَرْوَاحَهُمْ فِي جَوْفِ طَيْرٍ خُضْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏تَرِدُ أَنْهَارَ الْجَنَّةِ تَأْكُلُ مِنْ ثِمَارِهَا وَتَأْوِي إِلَى قَنَادِيلَ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ مُعَلَّقَةٍ فِي ظِلِّ الْعَرْشِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمَّا وَجَدُوا طِيبَ مَأْكَلِهِمْ وَمَشْرَبِهِمْ وَمَقِيلِهِمْ قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ يُبَلِّغُ إِخْوَانَنَا عَنَّا أَنَّا أَحْيَاءٌ فِي الْجَنَّةِ نُرْزَقُ لِئَلَّا يَزْهَدُوا فِي الْجِهَادِ وَلَا يَنْكُلُوا عِنْدَ الْحَرْبِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ اللَّهُ سُبْحَانَهُ:‏‏‏‏ أَنَا أُبَلِّغُهُمْ عَنْكُمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ وَلا تَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ قُتِلُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَمْوَاتًا سورة آل عمران آية 169 إِلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةِ.

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جب تمہارے بھائی احد کے دن شہید کئے گئے تو اللہ نے ان کی روحوں کو سبز چڑیوں کے پیٹ میں رکھ دیا، جو جنت کی نہروں پر پھرتی ہیں، اس کے میوے کھاتی ہیں اور عرش کے سایہ میں معلق سونے کی قندیلوں میں بسیرا کرتی ہیں، جب ان روحوں نے اپنے کھانے، پینے اور سونے کی خوشی حاصل کر لی، تو وہ کہنے لگیں: کون ہے جو ہمارے بھائیوں کو ہمارے بارے میں یہ خبر پہنچا دے کہ ہم جنت میں زندہ ہیں اور روزی دیئے جاتے ہیں تاکہ وہ جہاد سے بے رغبتی نہ کریں اور لڑائی کے وقت سستی نہ کریں تو اللہ تعالیٰ نے فرمایا: میں تمہاری جانب سے انہیں یہ خبر پہنچائوں گا ، راوی کہتے ہیں: تو اللہ تعالیٰ نے یہ آیت کریمہ «ولا تحسبن الذين قتلوا في سبيل الله أمواتا» جو اللہ کے راستے میں شہید کر دئیے گئے انہیں مردہ نہ سمجھو ( سورۃ آل عمران: ۱۶۹ ) اخیر آیت تک نازل فرمائی۔

Narrated Hasana' daughter of Muawiyah: She reported on the authority of her paternal uncle: I asked the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم: Who are in Paradise? He replied: Prophets are in Paradise, martyrs are in Paradise, infants are in Paradise and children buried alive are in Paradise.

Narrated Ubaydullah ibn Khalid as-Sulami: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم made a brotherhood between two men, one of whom was killed (in Allah's path), and a week or thereabouts later the other died, and we prayed at his funeral). The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم asked: What did you say? We replied: We prayed for him and said: O Allah, forgive him, and join him to his companion. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: What about his prayers since the time the other died, and his fasting since the time the other died--the narrator Shubah doubted the words, his fasting--and his deeds since the time the other died. The distance between them is just like the distance between heaven and earth.

Narrated Abu Ayyub al-Ansari: Abu Ayyub heard the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم say: Capitals will be conquered at your hands, and you will have to raise companies in large armies. A man will be unwilling to join a company, so he will escape from his people and go round the tribes offering himself to them, saying: Whose place may I take in such and such expedition? Whose place may I take in such and such expedition? Beware: That man is a hireling to the last drop of his blood.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: The warrior gets his reward, and the one who equips him gets his own reward and that of the warrior.
