Abdur Rahman ibn Hurmuz al-Araj said: Al-Abbas ibn Abdullah ibn al-Abbas married his daughter to Abdur Rahman ibn al-Hakam, and Abdur Rahman married his daughter to him. And they made this (exchange) their dower. Muawiyah wrote to Marwan commanding him to separate them. He wrote in his letter: This is the shighar which the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم has forbidden.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ فَارِسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ هُرْمُزَ الْأَعْرَجُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ الْعَبَّاسَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ أَنْكَحَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ الْحَكَمِ ابْنَتَهُ وَأَنْكَحَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ابْنَتَهُ وَكَانَا جَعَلَا صَدَاقًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَكَتَبَ مُعَاوِيَةُ إِلَى مَرْوَانَ يَأْمُرُهُ بِالتَّفْرِيقِ بَيْنَهُمَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ فِي كِتَابِهِ:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا الشِّغَارُ الَّذِي نَهَى عَنْهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .

ابن اسحاق سے روایت ہے کہ عبدالرحمٰن بن ہرمزاعرج نے مجھ سے بیان کیا کہ عباس بن عبداللہ بن عباس نے اپنی بیٹی کا نکاح عبدالرحمٰن بن حکم سے کر دیا اور عبدالرحمٰن نے اپنی بیٹی کا نکاح عباس سے کر دیا اور ان دونوں میں سے ہر ایک نے دوسرے سے اپنی بیٹی کے شادی کرنے کو اپنی بیوی کا مہر قرار دیا تو معاویہ نے مروان کو ان کے درمیان جدائی کا حکم لکھ کر بھیجا اور اپنے خط میں یہ بھی لکھا کہ یہی وہ نکاح شغار ہے جس سے اللہ کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے منع فرمایا ہے۔

Narrated Ali ibn Abu Talib: (The narrator Ismail said: I think ash-Shabi attributed this tradition to the Prophet) The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Curse be upon the one who marries a divorced woman with the intention of making her lawful for her former husband and upon the one for whom she is made lawful.

Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: If any slave marries without the permission of his masters, he is a fornicator.

Ibn Umar reported the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying “If a slave marries without the permission of his master, his marriage is null and void. Abu Dawud said “This tradition is weak. This is mauquf (does not go back to the Prophet). This is the statement of the Ibn Umar himself.

Abu Hurairah reported the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying “ A man should not seek the hand of a woman in marriage when his brother has already sought her hand. ”

Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: One of you must not ask a woman in marriage when his brother has done so already, and one of you must not sell (his own goods) when his brother has already sold (his goods) except with his permission.
