Narrated Abu Rafi: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم sent a man of the Banu Makhzum to collect sadaqah. He said to Abu Rafi: Accompany me so that you may get some of it. He said: (I cannot take it) until I go to the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and ask him. Then he went to him and asked him. He said: The sadaqah is not lawful for us, and the client of a people is treated as one of them.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْحَكَمِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَ رَجُلًا عَلَى الصَّدَقَةِ مِنْ بَنِي مَخْزُومٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ لِأَبِي رَافِعٍ:‏‏‏‏ اصْحَبْنِي فَإِنَّكَ تُصِيبُ مِنْهَا ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَتَّى آتِيَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَسْأَلَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَتَاهُ فَسَأَلَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَوْلَى الْقَوْمِ مِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ وَإِنَّا لَا تَحِلُّ لَنَا الصَّدَقَةُ .

ابورافع رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے بنی مخزوم کے ایک شخص کو صدقہ وصول کرنے کے لیے بھیجا، اس نے ابورافع سے کہا: میرے ساتھ چلو اس میں سے کچھ تمہیں بھی مل جائے گا، انہوں نے کہا: میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس جا کر پوچھ لوں، چنانچہ وہ آپ کے پاس آئے اور دریافت کیا تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: قوم کا غلام انہیں ۱؎ میں سے ہوتا ہے اور ہمارے لیے صدقہ لینا حلال نہیں ۔

Anas said: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم came upon a date on the road; he would not take it for fear of being a part of the sadaqah.

Anas said: Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم found a date and said: Were it not that I fear it may be part of the sadaqah, I would eat it.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: My father sent me to the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم to take the camels which he had given him from among those of sadaqah.

The aforesaid tradition has also been transmitted by Ibn Abbas through a different chain of narrators in a similar manner. This version adds: “My father exchanged them for him”.

Anas said when some meat was brought to the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم, he asked What is this? He was told this is a thing (meat), which was given as sadaqah to Barirah. Thereupon, he said it is sadaqah for her and a gift to us.

Buraidah said A woman came to the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and said I gave a slave girl as sadaqah to my mother who has now died and has left that slave girl. He said your reward is sure and the inheritance has given her back to you.
