Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم used to say: O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from four things: Knowledge which does not profit, a heart which is not submissive, a soul which has an insatiable appetite, and a supplication which is not heard.

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَخِيهِ عَبَّادِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْأَرْبَعِ:‏‏‏‏ مِنْ عِلْمٍ لَا يَنْفَعُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمِنْ قَلْبٍ لَا يَخْشَعُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمِنْ نَفْسٍ لَا تَشْبَعُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمِنْ دُعَاءٍ لَا يُسْمَعُ .

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کہتے تھے: «اللهم إني أعوذ بك من الأربع: من علم لا ينفع، ومن قلب لا يخشع، ومن نفس لا تشبع، ومن دعا لا يسمع» اے اللہ! میں چار چیزوں سے تیری پناہ مانگتا ہوں: ایسے علم سے جو نفع بخش نہ ہو، ایسے دل سے جو تجھ سے خوف زدہ نہ ہو، ایسے نفس سے جو سیر نہ ہو اور ایسی دعا سے جو سنی نہ جائے یعنی قبول نہ ہو ۔

Anas bin Malik narrated that the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم would say: O Allah, I seek refuge in You from a prayer that is of no benefit.

Farwah bin Nawfal Al-Ashjai asked Aishah the Mother of the Believers, about the supplication of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. She replied: He would say: 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done, and from the evil of what I have not done. '

Narrated Shakl ibn Humayd: I said: Messenger of Allah, teach me a supplication. He said: Say: O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from the evil of what I hear, from the evil of what I see, from the evil of what I speak, from the evil of what I think, and from the evil of my semen (i. e. sexual passion).

Narrated AbulYusr: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم used to supplicate: O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from my house falling on me, I seek refuge in Thee from falling into an abyss, I seek refuge in Thee from drowning burning and decrepitude. I seek refuge in Thee from the devil harming me at the time of my death, I seek refuge in Thee from dying in Thy path while retreating, and I seek refuge in Thee from dying of the sting of a poisonous creature.

Narrated Anas ibn Malik: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم used to say: O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from leprosy, madness, elephantiasis, and evil diseases.
