Translation

Abdullah bin Habshi al-Khath'ami said: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم was asked: Which of the actions is better ? He replied: Standing for long time (in prayer). He was again asked: Which alms is better ? He replied: The alms given by a man possessing small property acquired by his labour.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنِي عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَلِيٍّ الْأَزْدِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْعُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ،‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حُبْشِيٍّ الْخَثْعَمِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ:‏‏‏‏ أَيُّ الْأَعْمَالِ أَفْضَلُ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ طُولُ الْقِيَامِ قِيلَ:‏‏‏‏ فَأَيُّ الصَّدَقَةِ أَفْضَلُ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ جَهْدُ الْمُقِلِّ قِيلَ:‏‏‏‏ فَأَيُّ الْهِجْرَةِ أَفْضَلُ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ هَجَرَ مَا حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ قِيلَ:‏‏‏‏ فَأَيُّ الْجِهَادِ أَفْضَلُ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ جَاهَدَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ بِمَالِهِ وَنَفْسِهِ قِيلَ:‏‏‏‏ فَأَيُّ الْقَتْلِ أَشْرَفُ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ أُهَرِيقَ دَمُهُ وَعُقِرَ جَوَادُهُ .

عبداللہ بن حبشی خثعمی رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے پوچھا گیا: کون سا عمل افضل ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: نماز میں دیر تک کھڑے رہنا ، پھر پوچھا گیا: کون سا صدقہ افضل ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: کم مال والا محنت کی کمائی میں سے جو صدقہ دے ، پھر پوچھا گیا: کون سی ہجرت افضل ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اس شخص کی ہجرت جو ان چیزوں کو چھوڑ دے جنہیں اللہ نے اس پر حرام کیا ہے ، پھر پوچھا گیا: کون سا جہاد افضل ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اس شخص کا جہاد جس نے اپنی جان و مال کے ساتھ مشرکین سے جہاد کیا ہو ، پھر پوچھا گیا: کون سا قتل افضل ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اللہ کی راہ میں جس کا خون بہایا گیا ہو اور جس کے گھوڑے کے ہاتھ پاؤں کاٹ لیے گئے ہوں ۔

Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: May Allah show mercy to a man who gets up during the night and prays, who wakens his wife and she prays; if she refuses, he sprinkles water on her face. May Allah show mercy to a woman who gets up during the night and prays, who wakens her husband and he prays; if he refuses she sprinkles water on his face.

Narrated Abu Saeed ; Abu Hurairah: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: When a man himself wakes at night and wakens his wife and they pray two rak'ahs together, they are recorded among the men and women who make much mention of Allah.

Muadh al-Juhani reported the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: If anyone recites the Quran and acts according to its content, on the Day of Judgement his parents will be given to wear a crown whose light is better than the light of the sun in the dwellings of this world if it were among you. So what do you think of him who acts according to this ?

Aishah reported the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: One who is skilled in the Quran is associated with the noble, upright recording angels, and he who falters when he recites the Quran and finds it difficult for him will have a double reward.

Abu Hurairah reported the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: No people get together in a house of the houses of Allah (i. e. a mosque), reciting the Book of Allah, and learning it together among themselves, but calmness (sakinah) comes down to them, (Divine) mercy covers them (from above), and the angels surround them, and Allah makes a mention of them among those who are with Him.
