Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As: A man came to the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and asked him: Messenger of Allah, how is the ablution (to performed)? He (the Prophet) then called for water in a vessel and washed his hands up to the wrists three times, then washed his face three times, and washed his forearms three times. He then wiped his head and inserted both his index fingers in his ear-holes; he wiped the back of his ears with his thumbs and the front of his ears with the index fingers. He then washed his feet three times. Then he said: This is how ablution should be performed. If anyone does more or less than this, he has done wrong and transgressed, or (said) transgressed and done wrong.

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ أَبِي عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَدِّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏كَيْفَ الطُّهُورُ ؟ فَدَعَا بِمَاءٍ فِي إِنَاءٍ فَغَسَلَ كَفَّيْهِ ثَلَاثًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ غَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ غَسَلَ ذِرَاعَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ مَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ فَأَدْخَلَ إِصْبَعَيْهِ السَّبَّاحَتَيْنِ فِي أُذُنَيْهِ وَمَسَحَ بِإِبْهَامَيْهِ عَلَى ظَاهِرِ أُذُنَيْهِ بَاطِنَ أُذُنَيْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ غَسَلَ رِجْلَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ هَكَذَا الْوُضُوءُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَمَنْ زَادَ عَلَى هَذَا أَوْ نَقَصَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَدْ أَسَاءَ وَظَلَمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ ظَلَمَ وَأَسَاءَ .

عبداللہ بن عمرو بن العاص رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ ایک شخص رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آیا، اور اس نے عرض کیا: اے اللہ کے رسول! وضو کس طرح کیا جائے؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ایک برتن میں پانی منگوایا اور اپنے دونوں پہونچوں کو تین بار دھویا، پھر چہرہ تین بار دھویا، پھر دونوں ہاتھ تین بار دھلے، پھر سر کا مسح کیا، اور شہادت کی دونوں انگلیوں کو اپنے دونوں کانوں میں داخل کیا، اور اپنے دونوں انگوٹھوں سے اپنے دونوں کانوں کے اوپری حصہ کا مسح کیا اور شہادت کی دونوں انگلیوں سے اپنے دونوں کانوں کے اندرونی حصہ کا مسح کیا، پھر اپنے دونوں پاؤں تین تین بار دھلے، پھر فرمایا: وضو ( کا طریقہ ) اسی طرح ہے جس شخص نے اس پر زیادتی یا کمی کی اس نے برا کیا، اور ظلم کیا ، یا فرمایا: ظلم کیا اور برا کیا ۔

Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم washed the limbs in ablution twice.

Ata bin Yasar quoting Ibn Abbas said: Do you like that I should show you how the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم performed ablution? He then called for a vessel of water and took out a handful of water with his right hand. He then rinsed his mouth and snuffed up water. He then took out another handful of water and washed his face by both his hands together. He then took out another handful of water and washed his right hand and then washed his left hand by taking out another. He then took out some water and shook off his hand and wiped his head and ears with it. He then took out a handful of water and sprinkled it over his right foot in his shoe and wiped the upper part of the foot with his one hand, and beneath the shoe with his other hand. He then did the same with his left foot.

Ata bin Yasar quoting Ibn. Abbas said: May I not tell you how the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم performed ablution? He then performed ablution washing each limb once only.

Narrated Grandfather of Talhah: I entered upon the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم while he was performing ablution, and the water was running down his face and beard to his chest. I saw him rinsing his mouth and snuffing up water separately.

Abu Hurairah reported: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: When any of you performs ablution, he should snuff up water in his nose and eject mucus.
