Narrated Abu Umayr ibn Anas: Abu Umayr reported on the authority of some of his paternal uncles who were Companions of the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم: Some men came riding to the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and testified that they had sighted the new moon the previous day. He (the Holy Prophet), therefore, commanded the people to break the fast and to go out to their place of prayer in the morning.
حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي وَحْشِيَّةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي عُمَيْرِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُمُومَةٍ لَهُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ رَكْبًا جَاءُوا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَشْهَدُونَ أَنَّهُمْ رَأَوْا الْهِلَالَ بِالْأَمْسِ فَأَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يُفْطِرُوا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِذَا أَصْبَحُوا أَنْ يَغْدُوا إِلَى مُصَلَّاهُمْ .
ابو عمیر بن انس کے ایک چچا سے جو نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے اصحاب میں سے ہیں، روایت ہے کہ   کچھ سوار نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آئے وہ گواہی دے رہے تھے کہ کل انہوں نے چاند دیکھا ہے، تو آپ نے انہیں افطار کرنے اور دوسرے دن صبح ہوتے ہی اپنی عید گاہ جانے کا حکم دیا۔

Narrated Bakr ibn Mubashshir al-Ansari: I used to go to the place of prayer on the day of the breaking of the fast, and on the day of sacrifice along with the Companions of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. We would walk through a valley known as Batn Bathan till we came to the place of prayer. Then we would pray along with the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and return through Batn Bathan to our house.

Abbad bin Tamim al Mazini said on the authority of his uncle (Abdullah bin Zaid b Asim) who was a Companion of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم: One day the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم went out to make supplication for rain. He turned his back towards the people praying to Allah, the Exalted. The narrator Sulaiman bin Dawud said: He faced the qiblah and turned around his cloak and then offered two rak'ahs of prayer. The narrator Ibn Abi Dhi'b said: He recited from the Quran in both of them. The version of Ibn al-Sarh adds: By it he means in a loud voice.

The above-mentioned tradition has also been transmitted by Muhammad bin Muslim through a different chain of narrators. But there is no mention of prayer in this version. The version adds: He turned around his cloak, putting its right side on his left shoulder and its left side on his right shoulder. Thereafter he made supplication to Allah.
