This tradition has also been transmitted through a different chain of narrators by Jabir bin Abdullah. This version adds: He (the Prophet) turned to the people and said: When one of you comes (on Friday) while the imam is preaching, he should pray two rak'ahs and make them short.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْوَلِيدِ أَبِي بِشْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ طَلْحَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يُحَدِّثُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ سُلَيْكًا جَاءَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏زَادَ:‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى النَّاسِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ وَالْإِمَامُ يَخْطُبُ فَلْيُصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ يَتَجَوَّزْ فِيهِمَا .

جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہما کا بیان ہے کہ سلیک رضی اللہ عنہ آئے، پھر راوی نے اسی طرح کی حدیث ذکر کی اور اتنا اضافہ کیا کہ پھر آپ لوگوں کی طرف متوجہ ہوئے اور فرمایا: جب تم میں سے کوئی شخص آئے اور امام خطبہ دے رہا ہو تو دو ہلکی رکعتیں پڑھ لے ۱؎ ۔

Abdullah bin Busr said: A man came and stepped over the people while the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم was giving the sermon on Friday. The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Sit down, you have annoyed (the people).

Narrated Anas ibn Malik: I saw the Messenger صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم would descend from the pulpit and a man stop him for his need. He would remain standing with him until his need was fulfilled.
