Ab? Ja?far ad-D?rim? narrated to us, Bishr bin Umar narrated to us, he said: ?I asked M?lik bin Anas about Muhammad bin Abd ar-Rahman who transmits on authority of Sa??d bin al-Musayyib, so he said: ?He is not trustworthy ?. I asked him about S?lih, a freed slave of at-Taw?amah, then he said: ?He is not trustworthy?. I asked him about Ab?l-Huwayrith , and he said: ?He is not trustworthy?. I asked him about Shu?bah on whose authority Ibn Ab? Dhi?b transmitted, and he said: ?He is not trustworthy?. I asked him about Har?m bin Uthm?n , and he said ?He is not trustworthy?. I asked M?lik about these five and he said: ?They are not trustworthy in terms of their ?ad?th?. I asked him about another man whose name I forget just now, and he said: ?Did you see him in my book?? I said: ?No?. [Then] he said: ?If he was trustworthy you would see him in my book?.

وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ الدَّارِمِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ مَالِكَ بْنَ أَنَسٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الَّذِي يَرْوِي عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، فَقَالَ: «لَيْسَ بِثِقَةٍ»، وَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ صَالِحٍ، مَوْلَى التَّوْأَمَةِ، فَقَالَ: «لَيْسَ بِثِقَةٍ»، وَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ أَبِي الْحُوَيْرِثِ، فَقَالَ: «لَيْسَ بِثِقَةٍ»، وَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ الَّذِي رَوَى عَنْهُ ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، فَقَالَ: «لَيْسَ بِثِقَةٍ»، وَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ حَرَامِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ، فَقَالَ: «لَيْسَ بِثِقَةٍ»، وَسَأَلْتُ مَالِكًا عَنْ هَؤُلَاءِ الْخَمْسَةِ، فَقَالَ: «لَيْسُوا بِثِقَةٍ فِي حَدِيثِهِمْ»، وَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ رَجُلٍ آخَرَ نَسِيتُ اسْمَهُ، فَقَالَ: «هَلْ رَأَيْتَهُ فِي كُتُبِي؟» قُلْتُ: لَا، قَالَ: «لَوْ كَانَ ثِقَةً لَرَأَيْتَهُ فِي كُتُبِي»

بشر بن عمر بنے ہم سے بیان کیا ، کہا : میں نے امام مالک بن انس سے محمد بن عبد الرحمن کے بارے میں پوچھا جو سعید بن مسیب سے احادیث روایت کرتا ہے تو انہوں نے کہا : وہ ثقہ نہیں ۔ میں نے مالک بن انس سے ابو حویرث کے بارے میں سوال کیا تو انہوں نے فرمایا : وہ ثقہ نہیں ۔ ( پھر ) میں نے ان سے اس شعبہ کے بارے میں سوال کیا جس سے ابن ابی ذئب روایت کرتے ہیں تو فرمایا : وہ ثقہ نہیں ۔ میں نے ان سے صالح مولیٰ تَواَمَہ کے بارے میں سوال کیا تو کہا : ثقہ نہیں ۔ میں نے ان سے حرام بن عثمان کے بارے میں پوچھا تو فرمایا : ثقہ نہیں ۔ میں نے امام مالک سے ان پانچوں کے بارے میں پوچھا ، انہوں نے فرمایا : یہ سب حدیث کے بیان کرنے میں ثقہ نہیں ۔ میں نے ان سے ایک اور شخص کے بارے میں پوچھا جس کا ( اب ) میں نام بھول گیا ہوں تو انہوں نے کہا : کیا تم نے میری کتابوں میں اس کا نام دیکھا ہے ۔ میں نے عرض کی : نہیں ۔ فرمایا : اگر ثقہ ہوتا تو تم اس کا ذکر میری کتابوں میں دیکھتے

Al-Fa?l bin Sahl narrated to me, he said: ?Yahy? bin Ma??n narrated to me, Hajj?j narrated to us, Ibn Ab? Dhi?b narrated to us on authority of Shurahb?l bin Sa?d , and he was imputed [with lying regarding ?ad?th near the end of his life]?.

Muhammad bin Abd Allah bin Quhz?dh narrated to me, he said, I heard Ab? Ish?q at-T?lq?n? saying, I heard Ibn al-Mub?rak saying: ?If I had to choose between entering Paradise and meeting Abd Allah bin Muharrar, I would have chosen to meet him, then enter Paradise. Then when I saw him, dung was more preferred to me than him?.

Al-Fa?l bin Sahl narrated to me, Wal?d bin S?lih narrated to us, he said, Ubayd Allah bin Amr said, Zayd- meaning Ibn Ab? Unaysah ? said: ?Do not take [?ad?th] from my brother ?.

Ahmad bin Ibr?h?m ad-Dawraq? narrated to me, he said, Abd us-Sal?m al-W?bis? narrated to me, he said, Abd Allah bin Ja?far ar-Raqq? narrated to me, on authority of Ubayd Allah bin Amr, he said: ?Yahy? bin Ab? Unaysah was a liar?.

Ahmad bin Ibr?h?m narrated to me, he said, Sulaym?n bin Harb narrated to me, on authority of Hamm?d bin Zayd, he said, Farqad was mentioned near Ayy?b, so he said: ?Indeed Farqad is not a companion of ?ad?th?.

Abd ur-Rahman bin Bishr al-Abd? narrated to me, he said, I heard Muhammad bin Abd Allah bin Ubayd bin Umayr al-Layth? was mentioned near Yahy? bin Sa??d al-Qatt?n, so he weakened him severely. Then it was said to Yahy?: ?More weak than Ya?q?b bin At? ??? He said: ?Yes?. Then he said: ?I did not see anyone transmitting on authority of Muhammad bin Abd Allah bin Ubayd bin Umayr?.
