Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) happened to pass by two graves and said: They (their occupants) are being tormented, but they are not tormented for a grievous sin. One of them carried tales and the other did not keep himself safe from being defiled by urine. He then called for a fresh twig and split it into two parts, and planted them on each grave and then said: Perhaps, their punishment way be mitigated as long as these twigs remain fresh.

وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْأَشَجُّ، وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ، وَإِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، - قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ: أَخْبَرَنَا وَقَالَ الْآخَرَانِ - حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُجَاهِدًا، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ طَاوُسٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: مَرَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى قَبْرَيْنِ فَقَالَ: «أَمَا إِنَّهُمَا لَيُعَذَّبَانِ وَمَا يُعَذَّبَانِ فِي كَبِيرٍ، أَمَّا أَحَدُهُمَا فَكَانَ يَمْشِي بِالنَّمِيمَةِ، وَأَمَّا الْآخَرُ فَكَانَ لَا يَسْتَتِرُ مِنْ بَوْلِهِ»، قَالَ فَدَعَا بِعَسِيبٍ رَطْبٍ فَشَقَّهُ بِاثْنَيْنِ ثُمَّ غَرَسَ عَلَى هَذَا وَاحِدًا وَعَلَى هَذَا وَاحِدًا ثُمَّ قَالَ: «لَعَلَّهُ أَنْ يُخَفَّفُ عَنْهُمَا مَا لَمْ يَيْبَسَا»

وکیع نے بیان کیا ، ( کہا : ) ہمیں اعمش نے حدیث سنائی ، انہوں نے کہا : میں نے مجاہد کو طاؤس سے حدیث بیان کرتے ہوئے سنا ، انہوں نے حضرت ابن عباس ‌رضی ‌اللہ ‌عنہ ‌ ‌ سے روایت کی ، کہا : رسو ل اللہ ﷺ کا گزر دو قبروں پر ہوا تو آپ نے فرمایا : ’’ان دونوں کو عذاب ہو رہا ہے اور کسی بڑی غلطی کی بناپر عذاب نہیں ہو رہا ( جس سے بچنا دشوار ہوتا ۔ ) ان میں ایک تو چغل خوری کرتا تھا اور دوسرا اپنے پیشاب سے بچنے کا اہتمام نہیں کرتا تھا ۔ ‘ ‘ ابن عباس ‌رضی ‌اللہ ‌عنہ ‌ ‌ نے کہا : پھر آپ نے ایک تازہ کھجور کی چھڑی منگوائی اور اس کو دوحصوں میں چیر دیا ، پھر ایک حصہ اس قبر پر گاڑ دیا اور دوسرا اس ( دوسری قبر ) پر ، پھر آپ نے فرمایا : ’’امید ہے جب تک یہ دو ٹہنیاں سوکھیں گی نہیں ، ان کا عذاب ہلکا رہے گا ۔ ‘ ‘

This hadith is transmitted from A'mash by Abmad b. Yusuf al-Azdi, Mu'alla b. Asad, Abd al-Wahid, Sulaiman with the same chain of transmitters but for the words: The other did not keep himself safe from being defiled by urine.

A'isha reported: When anyone amongst us (amongst the wives of the Holy Prophet) menstruated, the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) asked her to tie a waist-wrapper over her (body) and then embraced her.

A'isha reported: When anyone amongst us was menstruating the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) asked her to tie waist-wrapper daring the time when the menstrual blood profusely flowed and then embraced her; and she ('A'isha) observed: And who amongst you can have control over his desires as the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) had over his desires.

Maimuna (the wife of the Holy Prophet) reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) contacted and embraced his wives over the waist-wrapper when they were menstruating.

Kuraibthe freed slave of Ibn Abbas, reported: I heard it from Maimuna, the wife of the Messenger of Allah (way peace be upon him): The Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) used to lie with me when I menstruated, and there was a cloth between me and him.
