Masruq reported: We went to Abdullah b. 'Amr when Mu'dwiya came to Kufa, and he made a mention of Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) and said: He was never immoderate in his talk and he never reviled others. Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) also said: The best amongst you are those who are best in morals. Uthman said: When he came to Kufa along with Mu'awiya... (The rest of the hadith is the same).

حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، قَالَ: دَخَلْنَا عَلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو حِينَ قَدِمَ مُعَاوِيَةُ إِلَى الْكُوفَةِ فَذَكَرَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «لَمْ يَكُنْ فَاحِشًا وَلَا مُتَفَحِّشًا» حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، قَالَ: دَخَلْنَا عَلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو حِينَ قَدِمَ مُعَاوِيَةُ إِلَى الْكُوفَةِ فَذَكَرَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «لَمْ يَكُنْ فَاحِشًا وَلَا مُتَفَحِّشًا»وَقَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ مِنْ خِيَارِكُمْ أَحَاسِنَكُمْ أَخْلَاقًا» قَالَ عُثْمَانُ: حِينَ قَدِمَ مَعَ مُعَاوِيَةَ إِلَى الْكُوفَةِ.

زہری بن حرب اور عثمان بن ابی شیبہ نے ہمیں حدیث بیان کی ، دونوں نے کہا : ہمیں جریر نے اعمش سے ، انھوں نے شقیق سے ، انھوں نے مسروق سے حدیث بیان کی ، انھوں نے کہا : جب حضرت معاویہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کوفہ آئے تو ہم ( ان کے ساتھ آنے والے ) حضرت عبداللہ بن عمرو رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے جا کرملے ، انھوں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا ذکر کیا اور کہا : آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نہ طبعاً زبان سے کوئی بری بات نکالنے والے تھے اور نہ تکلف کرکے برا کہنے والے تھے ، نیز انھوں نے کہا : رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا؛ "" تم میں سب سے اچھے لوگ وہی ہیں جو اخلاق میں سب سے اچھے ہیں ۔ "" عثمان ( بن ابی شیبہ ) نے کہا : جس موقع پر حضرت عبداللہ بن عمرو رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ حضرت معاویہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے ساتھ کوفہ آئے تھے ۔

Simak b. Harb reported: I said to Jabir b. Samura: Did you have the privilege of sitting in the company of Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم )? He said: Yes, very frequently, and added: He did not stand up (and go) from the place where he offered the dawn prayer until the sun rose, and after the rising of the sun he stood up, and they (his Companions) entered into conversation with one another and they talked of the things (that they did during the Days of Ignorance), and they laughed (on their unreasonable and ridiculous acts). Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) smiled only.

Anas reported that Allah's Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) came to his wives as the camel-driver who was called Anjasha had been, driving (the camels) on which (they were riding). Thereupon he said: Anjasha, be careful, drive slowly for you are driving the mounts who carry vessels of glass. Abu Qilaba said that Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) uttered words which if someone had uttered amongst you, you would have found fault with him.

Anas b. Malik reported that Umm Sulaim was with the wives of Allah's Apostle (?) and a camel-driver had been driving (the camels) oil which they were riding. Thereupon Allah's Apostle (?) said: Anjasha, drive slowly, for you are carrying (on the camels) vessels of glass.
