A'isha reported that the wives of Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) used to go out in the cover of night when they went to open fields (in the outskirts of Medina) for easing themselves. 'Umar b Khattab used to say: Allah's Messenger, ask your ladies to observe veil, but Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) did not do that. So there went out Sauda, daughter of Zarn'a, the wife of Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ), during one of the nights when it was dark. She was a tall statured lady. 'Umar called her saying: Sauda, we recognise you. (He did this with the hope that the verses pertaining to veil would be revealed.) 'A'isha said: Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, then revealed the verses pertaining to veil.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ اللَّيْثِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ جَدِّي حَدَّثَنِي عُقَيْلُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ أَزْوَاجَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كُنَّ يَخْرُجْنَ بِاللَّيْلِ إِذَا تَبَرَّزْنَ إِلَى الْمَنَاصِعِ وَهُوَ صَعِيدٌ أَفْيَحُ وَكَانَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ يَقُولُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ احْجُبْ نِسَاءَكَ فَلَمْ يَكُنْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَفْعَلُ فَخَرَجَتْ سَوْدَةُ بِنْتُ زَمْعَةَ زَوْجُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْلَةً مِنْ اللَّيَالِي عِشَاءً وَكَانَتْ امْرَأَةً طَوِيلَةً فَنَادَاهَا عُمَرُ أَلَا قَدْ عَرَفْنَاكِ يَا سَوْدَةُ حِرْصًا عَلَى أَنْ يُنْزَلَ الْحِجَابُ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ الْحِجَابَ

عقیل بن خالد نے ابن شہاب سے ، انھوں نے عروہ بن زبیر سے ، انھوں نے حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا سے روایت کی کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی ازواج جب رات کو قضائے حاجت کے لئے باہر نکلتیں تو "" المناصع "" کی طرف جاتی تھیں ، وہ دور ایک کھلی ، بڑی جگہ ہے ۔ اور حضرت عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے یہ عرض کرتے رہتے تھے کہ آپ اپنی ازواج کو پردہ کرائیں ، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ( کسی حکمت کی بنا پر ) ایسا نہیں کرتے تھے ، پھر ایک رات کو نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی اہلیہ حضرت سودہ بنت زمعہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا عشاء کے وقت ( قضائے حاجت کے لئے ) باہرنکلیں ، وہ دراز قدخاتون تھیں ، تو عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے اس حرص میں کہ حجاب نازل ہوجائے ، پکار کر ان سے کہا : سودہ! ہم نے آپ کو پہچان لیا ہے ۔ حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا نے کہا : اس پر اللہ تعالیٰ نے حجاب نازل فرمادیا ۔

Jabir reported Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) as saying: Behold, no person should spend the night with a married woman, but only in case he is married to her or he is her Mahram.

`Uqba b. `Amir reported Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) as saying: Beware of getting, into the houses and meeting women (in seclusion). A person from the Ansar said: Allah's Messenger, what about husband's brother, whereupon he ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: Husband's brother is like death.

Ibn Wahb reported: I heard Laith b. Said as saying: Al-Hamv means the brother of husband or like it from amongst the relatives of the husband, for example, cousin, etc.

Abdullah b. 'Amr. b. al-'As reported that some persons from Banu Hisham entered the house of Asma' daughter of 'Umais when Abu Bakr also entered (and she was at that time his wife). He (Abu Bakr) saw it and disapproved of it and he made a mention of that to Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) and said: I did not see but good only (in my wife). Thereupon Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: Verily Allah has made her immune from all this. Then Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) stood on the pulpit and said: After this day no man should enter the house of another person in his absence, but only when he is accompanied by one person or two persons.
