Translation

Anas reported that when his mother gave birth to a child they brought that child to Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) so that he might chew some dates and touch his palate with them. and Allah's Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) was at that time in the fold busy in cauterising the animals Shu'ba said: So far as I know (he was cauterising) their ears.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّ أُمَّهُ حِينَ وَلَدَتْ انْطَلَقُوا بِالصَّبِيِّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُحَنِّكُهُ قَالَ فَإِذَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مِرْبَدٍ يَسِمُ غَنَمًا قَالَ شُعْبَةُ وَأَكْثَرُ عِلْمِي أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي آذَانِهَا

محمد بن جعفر نے کہا : ہمیں شعبہ نے ہشام بن زید سے حدیث بیان کی ، انھوں نے کہا : میں نے حضرت انس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کو یہ حدیث بیان کرتے ہو ئے سنا ، کہ جب ان کی والد کے ہاں بچہ پیدا ہوا تو وہ لوگ اس بچے کو نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس لے گئے تا کہ آپ اسے گھٹی دیں اس وقت نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اونٹوں کے ایک باڑے میں تھے اور بکریوں کو نشان لگا رہے تھے شعبہ نے کہا : میرا غالب گمان یہ ہے کہ انھوں نے ( حضرت انس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ ) نے کہا تھا ( آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) ان ( بکریوں ) کے کا نوں پر نشان لگا رہے تھے ۔ ( اونٹوں کو لگانے کے بعد بکریوں کو بھی وہیں لا کر نشان لگا رہے تھے ۔ )

Anas reported: We went to Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) as he was in the fold and he was cauterising the animals of the flock and I think (he was cauterising them) on their ears.

Anas b. Malik reported: I saw in the hand of Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) an instrument for cauterisation and he was cauterising the caracia collected as Zakat.
