Hasan al-Hulw?n? narrated to us, Ab? Yahy? al-Himm?n? narrated to us, Qab?sah and his brother [Sufy?n bin Uqbah] narrated to us, that they heard al-Jarr?h bin Mal?h saying, I heard J?bir say: ?I have 70,000 ?ad?th all of which are on authority of Ab? Ja?far on authority of the Prophet, peace and blessings upon him?.
وحَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا قَبِيصَةُ، وَأَخُوهُ، أَنَّهُمَا سَمِعَا الْجَرَّاحَ بْنَ مَلِيحٍ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ جَابِرًا يَقُولُ: «عِنْدِي سَبْعُونَ أَلْفَ حَدِيثٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كُلُّهَا»
  ۔ جراح بن ملیح کہتے ہیں : میں نے جابر بن یزید ( جعفی ) کو یہ کہتے سنا : میرے ابو جعفر ( محمد باقر بن علی بن حسین بن علی ‌رضی ‌اللہ ‌عنہ ‌ ‌ ) کی ستر ہزار حدیثیں ہیں جو سب کی سب رسول اللہﷺ سے ( روایت کی گئی ) ہیں ۔

Hajj?j bin ash-Sh??ir narrated to me, Ahmad bin Y?nus narrated to us, he said, I heard Zuhayr saying, J?bir said, or, I heard J?bir saying: ?Indeed I have fifty thousand ?ad?th that I have not narrated from at all?. [Zuhayr] said: ?Then that day he related a ?ad?th and said, ?This is from the fifty thousand?.

Salamah bin Shab?b narrated to me, al-Humayd? narrated to us, Sufy?n narrated to us, he said, I heard a man ask J?bir about the verse: {Thus I will never depart from the land until my father permits me or Allah decides for me, and He is the best of Judges}[Y?suf: 80]. J?bir said: ?An interpretation has not come to me about these [verses]?. Sufy?n said: ?He lied?. We said to Sufy?n: ?What did he mean by this?? [Sufy?n] said: ?Indeed the R?fi?ah say, ?Al? is in the clouds and we will not emerge along with he who will emerge from his children [the Khal?fah] until a caller calls from the heaven, meaning Al?: ?Ride out along with so-and-so [meaning the promised Mahd?]?. J?bir said, ?that is an interpretation for these verses?, and he would lie as they were regarding the brothers of Y?suf, peace be upon him?.

Salamah narrated to me, al-Humayd? narrated to us, Sufy?n narrated to us, he said: ?I heard J?bir talking about something like 30,000 ?ad?th [that] I did not regard as permissible to mention anything from, and that to me was like this and that [?ad?th].? Muslim said, I heard Ab? Ghass?n Muhammad bin Amr ar-R?z? say, ?I asked Jar?r bin Abd il-Ham?d: ?Did you meet al-H?rith bin Has?rah? He said: ?Yes, [he is a] Shaykh of lengthy silence; he persisted in a grave matter.?
