This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Jabir b. Abdullah through another chain of transmitters.

و حَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ أَخْبَرَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ نَحْوًا مِمَّا أَخْبَرَ عَطَاءٌ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ لَا يَقُولُ اذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ

اسحاق بن منصور نے کہا : ہمیں روح بن عبادہ نے خبر دی ، کہا : ہمیں ابن جریج نے حدیث بیان کی ، کہا مجھے عمرو بن دینار نے بتایا کہ انھوں نے حضرت جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سےسنا ، وہ اس طرح کہہ رہے تھے جس طرح عطاء نے بتایا ، البتہ انھوں نے یہ نہیں کہا؛ " اللہ عزوجل کا نام لو ۔ "

Jabir reported Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) as saying: Do not let your animals and children go out when the sun sets until the first and the darkest part of the night is over, for the Satan is let loose with the sinking of the sun until the darkest part of the night is over.

Jabir b. 'Abdullah reported Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) as saying: Cover the vessels and tie the waterskin, for there is a night in a year when pestilence descends, and it does not pass an uncovered vessel or an untied waterskin but some of that pestilence descending into it.

This hadith is reported on the authority of Laith b. Sa'd with the same chain of transmitters, but with a slight variation in wording (and that is that) he (the Holy Prophet) said: There is a day in a year when descends the pestilence; at the end of the hadith Laith said that the non Arabs save themselves from it in Kanun Awwal (this is the month of December).

Salim, on the authority of his father, reported Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) having said: Do not leave the fire burning in your houses when you go to sleep.
