Jabir b. 'Abdullah reported: Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) led us in the 'Id prayer in Medina on the Day of Sacrifice. Some persons slaughtered their animals ahead of him under the impression that Allah's Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) had-already offered sacrifice. Thereupon Allah's Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: Those who had slaughtered their animals ahead of him should slaughter the other ones in their stead. And they should not sacrifice the animal before Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) had sacrificed (his animal)

و حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ صَلَّى بِنَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَتَقَدَّمَ رِجَالٌ فَنَحَرُوا وَظَنُّوا أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ نَحَرَ فَأَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ كَانَ نَحَرَ قَبْلَهُ أَنْ يُعِيدَ بِنَحْرٍ آخَرَ وَلَا يَنْحَرُوا حَتَّى يَنْحَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

ابو زبیر نے حضرت جابر بن عبد اللہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کو کہتے ہوئے سنا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہمیں قربانی کے دن مدینہ میں نما ز پڑھا ئی کچھ لوگوں نے جلدی کی اور قربانی کر لی ۔ ان کا خیال تھا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے قربانی کر لی ہو ئی ہے ۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے حکم دیا کہ جس نے آپ ( کے نماز اور خطبے سے فارغ ہو نے ) سے پہلے قربانی کر لی وہ ایک اور قربانی کریں ۔ اور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے پہلے کو ئی شخص قربانی نہ کرے ۔

Uqba b. 'Amir reported that Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) gave the gifts of goats to be distributed amongst his Companions. They sacrificed them, but a lamb of one year of age was left. (Someone) made a mention of that to the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ), whereupon he said: You sacrifice it

Amir al-Juhani reported: Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) distributed sacrificial animals (amongst us for sacrificing them on 'Id al-Adha). So we sacrificed them. There fell to my lot a lamb of less than one year I said: Allah's Messenger, there has fallen to my lot a lamb (Jadha'a), whereupon he said: Sacrifice that.

This hadith has been transmitted on the authority of 'Uqba b. 'Amir al-Juhan with a slight change of wording.

Anas reported that Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) sacrificed with his own hands two horned rams which were white with black markings reciting the name of Allah and glorifying Him (saying Allah-o-Akbar). He placed his foot on their sides (while sacrificing).

Anas reported that Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) sacrificed two horned rams of white colour with black markings over them. He also stated: I saw him sacrificing them with his own hand and saw him placing his foot on their sides, and recited the name of Allah and Glorified Him.

Shu'ba reported: Qatada informed me that he had heard Anas saying that Allah's Messenger (may peace be npon him) sacrificed (the horned rams) and like that. I said: Did you (Qatada) hear from Anas? He said. Yes.
