Jabir (Allah be pleased with him) reported: There came a slave and pledg- ed allegiance to Allah's Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) on migration; he (the Holy Prophet) did not know that he was a slave. Then there came his master and demanded him back, whereupon Allah's Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: Sell him to me. And he bought him for two black slaves, and he did not afterwards take allegiance from anyone until he had asked him whether he was a slave (or a free man)
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى التَّمِيمِيُّ، وَابْنُ رُمْحٍ، قَالَا: أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ، ح وحَدَّثَنِيهِ قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ: جَاءَ عَبْدٌ فَبَايَعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْهِجْرَةِ، وَلَمْ يَشْعُرْ أَنَّهُ عَبْدٌ، فَجَاءَ سَيِّدُهُ يُرِيدُهُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «بِعْنِيهِ»، فَاشْتَرَاهُ بِعَبْدَيْنِ أَسْوَدَيْنِ، ثُمَّ لَمْ يُبَايِعْ أَحَدًا بَعْدُ حَتَّى يَسْأَلَهُ: «أَعَبْدٌ هُوَ
  حضرت جابر رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے ، انہوں نے کہا : ایک غلام آیا ، اس نے ہجرت پر نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ بیعت کی جبکہ آپ کو پتہ نہیں چلا کہ وہ غلام ہے ۔ اس کا آقا اسے لینے کے لیے آیا تو نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس سے فرمایا : " یہ مجھے فروخت کر دو ۔ " چنانچہ آپ نے دو سیاہ غلاموں کے عوض اسے خرید لیا ، پھر اس کے بعد آپ کسی سے بیعت نہ لیتے تھے یہاں تک کہ ( پہلے ) پوچھ لیتے : " کیا وہ غلام ہے؟ "

A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported that Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) bought some grain from a Jew on credit and gave him a coat-of- mail of his as a pledge.
