Abd al-Rahman b. Wa'ala as-Saba'i (who was an Egyptian) asked 'Abdullah b. Abbas; (Allah be pleased with them) about that which is extracted from the grapes, whereupon he said: A person presented to Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) a small water-skin of wine. Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said to him: Do you know that Allah has forbidden it? He said: No. He then whispered to another man. Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) asked him what he had whispered. He said: I advised him to sell that, whereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: Verily He Who has forbidden its drinking has forbidden its sale also. He (the narrator) said: He opened the waterskin until what was contained in it was spilt.

حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ وَعْلَةَ - رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ مِصْرَ - أَنَّهُ جَاءَ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ، وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، وَغَيْرُهُ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ وَعْلَةَ السَّبَإِيِّ، مِنْ أَهْلِ مِصْرَ، أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، عَمَّا يُعْصَرُ مِنَ الْعِنَبِ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: إِنَّ رَجُلًا أَهْدَى لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَاوِيَةَ خَمْرٍ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «هَلْ عَلِمْتَ أَنَّ اللهَ قَدْ حَرَّمَهَا؟» قَالَ: لَا، فَسَارَّ إِنْسَانًا، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «بِمَ سَارَرْتَهُ؟»، فَقَالَ: أَمَرْتُهُ بِبَيْعِهَا، فَقَالَ: «إِنَّ الَّذِي حَرَّمَ شُرْبَهَا حَرَّمَ بَيْعَهَا»، قَالَ: فَفَتَحَ الْمَزَادَةَ حَتَّى ذَهَبَ مَا فِيهَا،

سوید بن سعید نے ہمیں حدیث بیان کی ، کہا : ہمیں حفص بن میسرہ نے زید بن اسلم سے حدیث سنائی ، انہوں نے ۔ ۔ اہل مصر کے آدمی ۔ ۔ عبدالرحمٰن بن وعلہ سے روایت کی کہ وہ حضرت عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس آئے ۔ اور مجھے ابوطاہر نے حدیث بیان کی ۔ ۔ الفاظ انہی کے ہیں ۔ ۔ : ہمیں ابن وہب نے خبر دی : مجھے مالک بن انس اور دوسروں نے زید بن اسلم سے ، انہوں نے ۔ ۔ مصر کے باشندوں میں سے ۔ ۔ عبدالرحمان بن وعلہ سبئی سے روایت کی کہ انہوں نے حضرت عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہ سے اس چیز کے بارے میں سوال کیا جو انگور سے نچوڑی جاتی ہے ۔ حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا : ایک آدمی نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو شراب کا ایک مشکیزہ ہدیہ کیا تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس سے فرمایا : " کیا تمہیں علم ہے کہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے اسے حرام قررا دیا ہے؟ " اس نے جواب دیا : نہیں ، اس کے بعد اس نے ایک انسان سے سرگوشی کی تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس سے پوچھا : " تم نے اس سے کیا سرگوشی کی ہے؟ " اس نے جواب دیا : میں نے اس سے یہ فروخت کرنے کو کہا ہے ۔ تو آپ نے فرمایا : " جس ( اللہ ) نے اس کا پینا حرام کیا ہے اس نے اس کی بیع بھی حرام قرار دی ہے ۔ " کہا : اس پر اس شخص نے مشکیزے کا منہ کھول دیا حتی کہ جو اس میں تھا ، بہہ گیا ۔

A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported: When the concluding verses of Sura Baqara were revealed, Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) went out and read them out to the people and then forbade them to trade in wine.

Jabir b. 'Abdullah (Allah be pleased with them) reported Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) as saying in the Year of Victory while he was in Mecca: Verily Allah and His Messenger have forbidden the sale of wine, carcass, swine and idols, It was said: Allah's Messenger, you see that the fat of the carcass is used for coating the boats and varnishing the hides and people use it for lighting purposes, whereupon he said: No, it is forbidden, Then Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: May Allah the Exalted and Majestic destroy the Jews; when Allah forbade the use of fat of the carcass for them, they melted it, and then sold it and made use of its price (received from it).

Yazid b. Abu Habib reported: 'Ata' reported to me that he heard Jabir (b. 'Abdullah) saying it that he had heard that from Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) in the Year of Victory.

Ibn Abbas (Allah be pleased with him) reported: This news reached 'Umar that Samura had sold wine, whereupon he said: May Allah destroy Samura; does he not know that Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: Let there be the curse of Allah upon the Jews that fat was declared forbidden for them, but they melted it and then sold it ?
