Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) as saying: It is not lawful for a woman believing in Allah and the Hereafter to undertake journey extending over a day and a night except when there is a Mahram with her.
وحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ: قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «لَا يَحِلُّ لِامْرَأَةٍ تُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ، تُسَافِرُ مَسِيرَةَ يَوْمٍ وَلَيْلَةٍ إِلَّا مَعَ ذِي مَحْرَمٍ عَلَيْهَا»
  امام مالک نے سعید بن ابی سعید مقبری سے انھوں نے اپنے والد سے اور انھوں نے حضرت ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت کی کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فر ما یا : " جو عورت اللہ اور آخرت کے دن پر ایما ن رکھتی ہے اس کے لیے حلال نہیں کہ وہ ایک دن اور رات کا سفر کرے مگر اس طرح کہ اس کا محرم اس کے ساتھ ہو ۔

Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) as saying: It is not lawful for a woman believing in Allah and the Hereafter to undertake journey extending over three days or more, except when she is in the company of her father, or her son, or her husband, or her brother, or any other Mahram.

Ibn 'Abbas (Allah be pleased with them) reported: I heard Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) delivering a sermon and making this observation: No person should be alone with a woman except when there is a Mahram with her, and the woman should not undertake journey except with a Mahram. A person stood up and said: Allah's Messenger, my wife has set out for pilgrimage, whereas I am enlisted to fight in such and such battle, whereupon he said: You go and perform Hajj with your wife.
